    • A method for detecting protein present on the surface of a sample and a kit for performing protein detection applying the detecting method are disclosed. The method is comprising the steps of (1) transferring substances present on the subject portion of the surface of a sample to a sampling means which comprises a water absorbable portion comprising a water-insluble sythetic polymer, (2) contacting the substances transferred to said sampling means with a reagent capable of forming color upon reaction with protein, and (3) measuring color formed by the reaction of said reagent with protein to determine the amount of protein contained in the substance transferred to the sapling means. The kit includes the sampling means and the color forming reagent in combination.

    • A filtering device comprises a cylindrical member bored with a large number of holes; a sheet-like filter element crosswise folded like bellows and rolled into a cylindrical form so as to concentrically surround the bored cylindrical member and a plurality of thin band-shaped liquid passage plates interposed between every adjacent folded portions of the inner wall of the filter element, and wherein each liquid passage plate has both surfaces made irregular and further its width chosen to be equal to or larger than the height of the projecting folded portion of the sheet-like filter element.At least one annular support band surrounds the outer periphery of the filter element defined by the apexes of the folded projections. An adhesive applied to the inner peripheral wall of said annular support band permits the support band to hold the folded projections in position and also permeates the apexes of the folded portions, thereby fixing the inner walls of the apexes to the outer edges of the passage plates.

    • An X-ray computerized tomographic (CT) apparatus capable of facilitating alignment of focal spot position at the time of replacing an X-ray tube anew and capable of easily correcting the focal spot position even when the focal spot position of the X-ray tube is deviated. Thereby, the focal spot position of the X-ray tube remains fixed in a predetermined position. The X-ray computerized tomographic (CT) apparatus includes an X-ray tube which is freely movable in at least one of a horizontal direction and a vertical direction; a detection unit for detecting a dislocated degree of the focal spot position of the X-ray tube; and a controlling unit for automatically controlling the focal spot position of the X-ray tube based on data obtained from the detection unit so that the focal spot position of the X-ray tube remains fixed in a predetermined position. In a case where the CT apparatus is used for a helical scanning operation, the detection unit may further include a detection timing controller for controlling an instance of detection and alignment of the focal spot position by utilizing only an output of the X-ray amount detected at a predetermined position of a gantry.
