摘要： According to an image processing method and apparatus of the present invention, an outline portion is extracted from input image data, and a pixel whose dot size is to be changed is extracted. The input image data is printed without any change, and the pixel whose dot size is to be changed is overlap-printed while the dot size is increased. Therefore, smoothing can be sufficiently performed in both the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction without increasing the dot density and decreasing the recording speed.

摘要： An ink jet printing apparatus printing on a print medium includes a print head having a plurality of ejection ports for ejecting ink while scanning in a scan direction, and a conveyance unit including a pair of rollers for conveying the print medium in a conveyance direction crossing the scan direction by rotation of the rollers. The rollers are provided at a position at an upper stream side in the conveying direction of the print medium from a print position at which printing by the print head is performed. A detection unit is configured to detect a downstream side end of the print medium conveyed by the pair of rollers, with the detection unit arranged at a position that is a distance from the pair of rollers, in the conveyance direction, corresponding to a length of the print medium. In addition, a change unit is configured to change the ejection ports available for printing according to an error in conveyance detected by the detection unit.

摘要： When recording a color image on a recording medium according to record data using black ink and color ink of a plurality of colors having a different characteristic of permeation into the recording medium from the black ink, detecting the boundary between a black image and a color image is executed. For an area where the boundary has not been detected, normal printing which can record the image at a relatively high speed is set. For an area where the boundary has been detected, multi-pass printing which can record the image at a relatively low speed is set. Thus, a drop of recording speed and bleeding at the boundary are prevented.

摘要： An ink jet printing apparatus that can inhibit the possible degradation of image quality caused by variation in the conveyance amount of a print medium is provided. The ink jet printing apparatus includes a detection section detecting the conveyance amount of the print medium, and a print head position adjusting section slightly moving a print head in a conveyance direction of the print medium. The print head position adjusting section adjusts the position of the print head in the conveyance direction according to an error in the conveyance amount of the print medium detected by the detection section. Thus, printing can be performed at the head position adjusted with the error in conveyance amount taken into account. Therefore, the possible degradation of the image quality caused by a conveyance variation can be inhibited.
