    • Calender and method for treating a material web. The calender includes a plurality of rolls in which each roll has a rotational axis. The rotational axes of the plurality of rolls are arranged to be substantially located in a press plane, and a plurality of nips are formed between adjacent rolls. A control device is provided to selectively open and close the plurality of nips, and the rolls are arranged so that at least two opened nips are positioned between two closed nips. The method includes forming a closed nip with the top roll, forming a closed nip with the bottom roll, forming at least two open nips between closed nips, and guiding the material web through at least the closed nips.

    • A process for removing condensable aliphatic hydrocarbons and acidic gases such as H.sub.2 S, CO.sub.2 and COS from natural gas containing these, wherein the natural gas is initially treated with polyethylene glycol dialkyl ethers, as the solvent, in a first absorption stage to effect absorption of the condensable aliphatic hydrocarbons; the natural gas drawn off from the first absorption stage is then treated with polyethylene glycol dialkyl ethers, as the solvent, under superatmospheric pressure in a second absorption stage, the acidic gases being completely or partly absorbed; the solvent charged with the condensable aliphatic hydrocarbons which is obtained from the first absorption stage is treated with water in an extraction stage, to form a hydrocarbon phase containing the condensable aliphatic hydrocarbons and an aqueous dialkyl ether phase, and the hydrocarbon phase is separated from the aqueous dialkyl ether phase. The solvent charged with acid gases which is obtained from the second absorption stage is regenerated by expansion and/or stripping in a regeneration stage and the regenerated solvent is recycled to the absorption.

    • The invention relates to a method for improving the transportability of heavy crude oil.Proceeding from the disadvantages of the known prior art a method is to be provided, in which an additive can be used which is producible from a byproduct arising during mineral oil production. The method is to be performable with low expenditure and without any special safety precautions. Further the additive shall lead to an increased yield of conventional petroleum during subsequent refining.According to the invention, an aqueous hydrocarbon mixture having a chain length of predominantly C4 to C12 which does not contain any oxygen-containing hydrocarbon compounds is utilized. This is produced in the area of a mineral oil field from natural gas arising as by-product and/or mineral oil-associated gas. Thereby from the heavy crude oil a crude oil which is light in quality and transportable is obtained. During the subsequent refining of the light crude oil to give conventional petroleum, the amount of petroleum produced is increased by the amount of hydrocarbons present in the aqueous hydrocarbon mixture.
