The systems include implantable annulus repair and augmentation devices as well as implantable prosthetic materials for replacing a portion of or augmenting the annulus and/or the nucleus pulposus. The methods are directed to the minimally invasive implantation of one or more of the subject annulus repair devices and the prosthetic materials to within the intervertebral disc.

摘要： Flexible intervertebral spacers and associated methods are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an intervertebral spacer includes a first support member configured to engage a superior vertebra of a spine, a second support member configured to engage an inferior vertebra of the spine, and a joint coupling the first support member to the second support member. The joint is adapted to limit the transverse relationship between the first and second support members while allowing relative movement between the first and second support members relative to each other during flexion, extension, bending, and rotation of the spine.

摘要： A dynamic rod implantable into a patient and connectable between two vertebral anchors in adjacent vertebral bodies is provided. The dynamic rod fixes the adjacent vertebral bodies together in a dynamic fashion providing immediate postoperative stability and support of the spine. The dynamic rod comprises a first rod portion dynamically connected to a second rod portion at a retainer that has separate chambers for receiving rod portions. One rod portion is configured for longitudinal movement and the other rod portion is configured for polyaxial angulation relative to the retainer. The dynamic rod is configured such that the retainer is located proximate to one of the facet joints when implanted into a patient. The dynamic rod permits relative movement of the first and second rod portions allowing the rod to carry some of the natural flexion, extension and rotation moments of the spine.

摘要： An implantable spacer for placement between adjacent spinous processes in a spinal motion segment is provided. The spacer includes a body defining a longitudinal axis and passageway. A first arm and a second arm are connected to the body. Each arm has a pair of extensions and a saddle defining a U-shaped configuration for seating a spinous process therein. Each arm has a proximal caming surface and is capable of rotation with respect to the body. An actuator assembly is disposed inside the passageway and connected to the body. When advanced, a threaded shaft of the actuator assembly contacts the caming surfaces of arms to rotate them from an undeployed configuration to a deployed configuration. In the deployed configuration, the distracted adjacent spinous processes are seated in the U-shaped portion of the arms.

摘要： A plurality of individual tools is provided where each tool is uniquely configured to perform a step or a portion of a step in a novel procedure associated with the implantation of a stabilizing device (e.g., an interspinous spacer) for stabilizing at least one spinal motion segment. The tools are usable individually, or more preferably as a tooling system in which the tools are collectively employed to implant an interspinous spacer, generally in a minimally invasive manner. For example, each of the tools is arranged with coordinated markings and/or other features to ensure consistent depths of insertion, proper orientation of the tools with respect to each other or an anatomical feature of the patient, and precise delivery of the spacer to maintain safe positioning throughout the implantation procedure.
