摘要： Embodiments of the invention include methods for in-band signaling in a QUIC session. In one embodiment, a method is performed by a network device on a path between a client network device and a server network device. The method includes receiving a first packet within a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) datagram, where the first packet is an initial packet for a QUIC session between the client and server network devices and the UDP datagram is within an Internet Protocol (IP) packet. The method continues with inserting discovery information into a second packet within the IP packet, where the discovery information includes a set of features supported by the network device. The method further includes transmitting the IP packet after the inserting based on destination of the IP packet.

In some cases, the apparatus exploits a probe on a device to generate traffic for learning flow characteristics not obtained from monitoring application IP flows in the network. Embodiments disclosed herein can be used to predict quality metrics for many applications where jitter/latency is a factor affecting perceived quality, such as QoE for a human consumer or QoS for machine type communications. The embodiments are applicable to the analysis of traffic carrying conversational speech.

摘要： A basic idea for efficient media communication between two nodes in a group communication system is to set up a number, N, of parallel, separate media streams of the same media type in a given direction between the nodes, where N is equal to or greater than 2. Before setting up the media streams, the actual number of media streams is negotiated (S1). Once the negotiation is completed, the media streams are established (S2). Media data of the same type can then be transferred in parallel, media streams (S3), where each media stream may include media data from a separate source or from a mix of sources. In this way, a richer and/or more personalized rendering of the media data is enabled since media data may be transported as individual media streams and processed locally in a participant, rather than processed and mixed into a single stream by a central mixer.
