    • Interleaver for scrambling an information word, the information word having a multitude of digits, for obtaining a permuted information word. The interleaver includes a first interleaver stage for a row-by-row arranging of the digits of the information word in a plurality of first rows and first columns, and a second interleaver stage for scrambling the digits of one of the first rows by interchanging at least two digits of the one first row in order to obtain a first scrambled row, and for replacing the one of the first rows by the first scrambled row. The first interleaver stage is configured for reading the first row, which is replaced based on the first scrambled row, in a column-by-column manner in order to obtain the permuted information word.

    • In an apparatus for generating a transmit sequence comprising information from a plurality of information channels, a first means serves for generating a plurality of different candidate channel sequences from information of a first information channel of the plurality of information channels using a first code sequence associated with the first information channel, wherein each candidate channel sequence carries the same information as the information of the first information channel. A second means is provided to provide at least one candidate channel sequence for a second information channel from the plurality of information channels using a second code sequence associated with the second information channel and differing from the first code sequence. To receive an optimum transmit sequence resulting in a minimum out-of-band radiation combined sequences are examined, wherein each combined sequence may be obtained by a combination of at least one candidate channel sequence from each information channel. After this either the combined sequence is selected resulting in a minimum out-of-band radiation or the optimum candidate channel sequences are selected from the individual information channels, which together result in the optimum combined sequence causing a minimum out-of-band radiation. Therefore it is possible to reduce peak values e.g. occurring in the code multiplex modulation concept in the transmit sequence distortion-free.

    • To achieve a distortionless reduction in the out-of-band radiation a plurality of candidate transmit sequences is generated from an information word and one of the candidate transmit sequences, which fulfills a predetermined criterion, is then selected as the transmit sequence. The different candidate transmit sequences are generated by adding respective different labels to the information word and the information word plus added label is then processed by an invertable back-coupled combination algorithm to obtain a combined information word wherein the information units are combined with one another and/or with the added label in such a way that the combined information word is uniquely identified by the label. The combined information word is further processed, e.g. with the aid of a mapper and an inverse Fourier transform in the case of an OFDM modulation method, to obtain a temporal candidate transmit sequence. By repeating the above process the plurality of candidate transmit sequences is obtained, from which the actual transmit sequence is then selected according to a predetermined criterion. In the receiver the combined information word is fed into an algorithm which is inverse to the back-coupled combination algorithm and which is automatically controlled by the label, thus regenerating the information word. In this way the information word is automatically extracted from the received transmit sequence without transmitting explicit side information.
