摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoder and a decoding method capable of improving decoding performance of soft input/soft output. SOLUTION: The time variable trellis is such trellis as a possible transition changes as time passes with periodicity, consisting of the state of transition as time passes and a branch representing transition of the state. In the time variable trellis, the transition information showing whether the transition represented by the branch is possible one or impossible one, being generated based on the phase information representing a specified timing at one cycle of the time variable trellis having periodicity, is made to correspond to the data of a branch which is used for specified calculation for acquiring an output soft value data from an input soft value data, which is stored in a first γRAM303 or fifth γRAM307. At an α calculation part 308, first β calculation part 309, second β calculation part 310, and λ calculation part 312, a specified calculation is performed using the data only of the branch representing possible transition, based on the transition information.
