The lithium secondary battery includes a negative electrode 1 in which negative electrode mixture layers 2 and 3 that contain active material particles containing silicon and/or a silicon alloy and a binder are disposed on the surfaces of a current collector 4. A electrode body is formed by spirally winding, from inside to outside, a laminate body; and in an outer end portion of the negative electrode 1, the negative electrode mixture layers 2 and 3 have tapering portions 2a and 3a whose thicknesses decrease toward ends 2b and 3b of the negative electrode mixture layers 2 and 3; and oozing portions 2d and 3d mainly containing the binder are formed at the tips of the tapering portions 2a and 3a of the negative electrode mixture layers 2 and 3.

A method also is provided for producing a transition metal composite hydroxide represented by a general formula (1) MxWsAt(OH)2+α, coated with a compound containing the additive element, and serving as a precursor of a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries. The method includes producing a composite hydroxide particle, forming nuclei, growing a formed nucleus; and forming a coating material containing a metal oxide or hydroxide on the surfaces of composite hydroxide particles obtained through the upstream step.

摘要： By using two probe optical systems for measurement by disposing the probe optical systems with a test object sandwiched therebetween, an optical path length of light transmitted through the test object which is identified locally is calculated using an interference signal thereof. In addition, a geometrical thickness of the same part is calculated by measuring positions of the probe optical systems, whereby two calculated values are obtained. Based on the values and a calculated value for a reference object, a refractive index distribution of the test object is obtained.
