    • A cooker has a cooker main body and a discharged steam cooling unit placed at the top surface of the cooker main body. Inside the discharged steam cooling unit is a duct extending in the front/rear direction. The rear end of the duct is an inlet port connected to an outlet port of the cooker main body. A throat portion is formed in the duct. Air from a blower is blown into the throat portion through a nozzle to generate a suction force at the inlet port by an ejector effect. The duct is branched on the downstream side of the throat portion, and outlet ports are provided at the ends of the branched ducts. Ambient air is sucked in from a gap between the inlet port of the duct and the outlet port of the cooker main body.

    • An air filter unit in which the generation of organic substances is restrained by controlling at least the amount of organic substances detected from a square test piece of 5.times.5 cm (25 cm.sup.2) of a filter medium so as to be 100 ng or less in the total amount of organic substances detected from the whole air filter unit at a temperature of 40.degree. C. before using. The air filter unit is assembled by housing a filter medium that has been bent in a waveform in a frame composed of 4 outer frame members and sealing the gap between the frame and the filter medium using a sealing compound. Organic substances adhering to the air filter unit are removed by blowing a cleaned air heated at 80.degree. C. against the air filter unit at a velocity of 50 ml/min for 60 minutes. Then, an air suction port and an air exhaust port of the air filter unit are sealed with a film (for example, a PET film) which keeps the unit from contacting with organic substances and from which organic substances are not generated.

    • A serial printer wherein a print head is reversibly displaced transverse to a print medium by an open looped grooved rotating cylindrical cam is provided. A unidirectional drive shaft is operatively coupled to the cam by a drive gear engaged with planet gears mounted on a clutched rotary member for rotating the cam when the rotary member is stationary. An intermediate gear is intermittently engaged with the drive gear for changing the rotating direction of the cam upon engagement of the intermediate gear between the drive gear and planet gear. The rotary member includes geared regions adapted to be engageable with a print medium advancing assembly for advancing the recording medium during rotation of the rotary member when the drive of the print head is stopped and the direction of the cylindrical cam is about to be reversed. Advancing the print medium during change of direction of the print head when the cam is not being driven reduces the load placed on the motor, thereby permitting reduction in power consumption.
