    • The present application relates to a method for a cellular multiple-input and multiple- output, MIMO, system (10). The system (10) comprises a base station (20) having a plurality of antennas (23-25) a control unit (21 ) which analyses pilot signals received from the terminal device (30) at the plurality of antennas (23) to obtain information about a wireless channel property of the wireless channel between the terminal device (30) and the plurality of antennas (23-25). According to the method, a plurality of pilot signals is transmitted from the terminal device (30) to the base station (20), and information about the wireless channel property of the wireless channel between the terminal device (30) and the plurality of antennas (23-25) of the base station (20) is determined based on a predefined number of last recently transmitted pilot signals of the plurality of pilot signals from the terminal device (30). Based on the information about the wireless channel property, at least one parameter of the plurality of antennas (23-25) is configured by the base station (20).

    • The present application relates to a method for operating a cellular multiple-input and multiple-output system (10) comprising a first device (20) having an antenna array (22) comprising a plurality of antennas (23), and a second device (30) comprising at least two antennas (32, 33). According to the method, a same uplink pilot signal (301, 302) is broadcasted from each antenna of the at least two antennas (32, 33) of the second device (30), and received at the antenna array (22) of the first device (20). Depending on the received same uplink pilot signal (301, 302), a first set of first device receiving parameters for the antenna array (22) is determined at the first device (20). From each antenna of the at least two antennas (32, 33) of the second device (30) a corresponding uplink pilot signal (303, 304) of a plurality of orthogonal uplink pilot signals is sent and received at the antenna array (22) of the first device (20) using the first set of first device receiving parameters. At the first device (20), for each received uplink pilot signal (303, 304) of the plurality of uplink pilot signals a corresponding second set of first device receiving parameters for the antenna array (22) is determined depending on the plurality of received orthogonal uplink pilot signals (303, 304).
