A thigh piece contains a resiliently rigid channel piece and several laterally extending, wings including sizing tabs that overlap and cooperate with associated straps. A stump contact piece, end cap piece and knee cover piece contain foam pads to cushion the stump end and knee. Strips of hook and loop fastener material arrayed about the surfaces of the protector pieces judiciously overlap to contain the protector pieces to each other and the limb. Buckled straps further support the protector assembly to the limb.

    • A magnetic mold closure system [1000] employs at least two mold parts [1110, 1120] having at least one solenoid (1300, 1400). A bidirectional power controller [1500] provides current to a plurality of electromagnetic solenoids [1300, 1400] to precisely hold the mold parts [1110, 1120] together. This attraction effectively automates the closing of the mold closure, so as to begin the casting process. Upon curing of the material to a point where it can be removed from the mold parts [1110, 1120], a logic unit [1200] determines when to open the mold closure [1100]. The bidirectional power controller [1500] applies current in a reverse direction to provide a repelling force which automates the opening of the mold closure [1100]. This automated approach to the molding will reduce cycle times and waste while providing a more ergonomic and safe environment for the operator of the mold closure.

    • A boat loading system includes a powered extendable shaft mounted on a boat trailer and including a receiver mounted to a terminal end portion of the extendable shaft. A coupler or insert member is fixed to the bow of a boat and projects therefrom. To couple the receiver with the coupler, the extendable shaft is extended and the receiver aligned with the coupler. As the extendable shaft is extended, the coupler or insert member enters the receiver and engages a locking mechanism provided for therein. As the coupler or insert member is moved into the receiver, a locked condition is realized causing the coupler or insert member to be locked within the receiver. Thereafter, the powered extendable shaft is retracted and in the process, pulls the boat onto the trailer, positioning the boat in a loaded position on the trailer.

The plurality of distinct magnetic elements or domains may be arranged to form a Halbach array.
