    • A mechanism is provided for adding point-in-time copy relationships to a data processing system. A request is received to establish a first point-in-time copy relationship. Responsive to determining that a first target of the first point-in-time copy relationship is target write inhibited, that a source of the first point-in-time copy relationship is a source of a first continuous synchronous copy relationship, that a target of the first continuous synchronous copy relationship is part of a second point-in-time copy relationship, and that the source of the first point-in-time copy relationship is part of a volume swap configuration, a volume swap relationship is added between the first point-in-time target volume and the second point-in-time target volume to the volume swap configuration. Both point-in-time copy relationships are established and any continuous synchronous copy requirements of the volume swap relationship between the first point-in-time target volume and the second point-in-time target volume are disabled.

    • A system for supervisor partitioning of client resources in a subnet communications environment includes a plurality of client nodes, each receiving an allocated set of resources determined by a central authority, which assigns resources to a supervisor key associated with each supervisor of the plurality of client nodes. At each of the client nodes, the allocated set of resources are partitioned using a local supervisor associated therewith, with each supervisor associating one or more resource keys with one or more resources allocated to the corresponding client node, and assigning the one or more resource keys to the one or more applications. The supervisor keys are configured so as to prevent a given supervisor from partitioning resources not allocated to the client node associated therewith. Following the partitioning, communication packets are issued from the one or more applications to a resource provider node without inspection by the corresponding supervisor.

    • A method, apparatus, and computer program device enabling a computer network switching device to inform an attached requesting device of switch ports affected by configuration changes during the period of time since the last query by the particular requesting device. The switch device is initialized with a change index and data vector, the latter indicative of an initial port configuration. The switch increments the index in response to subsequent port configuration change events, and stores in association with the incremented index a data vector indicating the ports changed during the corresponding event. The switch stores an array of associated index and vector values. The switch responds to a query from an attached requesting device by informing the requesting device of specific ports affected by one or more configuration changes since the index value held by the requesting device was the current index value in the switch.

    • A method includes copying a first virtual storage by making, a point-in-time copy of a first page content stored in a first structure by creating a second page content in a second structure, the second page content pointing to actual data pointed to by the first page content, storing the second page content in the second data structure, marking the first page content in the first structure with a bit, copying the virtual page in the event the first page content in the first structure is marked with the bit, storing the copied virtual page in a second virtual storage, altering the second page content to point to the stored virtual page, and using the second virtual storage to perform the core dump process, wherein the second virtual storage is referenced via the second page content stored in the real storage.
