    • The fuel injection pump has a piston (12) acting in a cylindrical boring (10) of a cylindrical bush (11). In the cylindrical boring (10), a pump working chamber (40) is limited by the piston (12) on one side and an electrically controlled valve (32) on the other. The pump working chamber (40) can be connected on the intake stroke of the piston (12) with an intake chamber (18) via the valve (32) to control the injection piston stroke. The cylindrical bush (11) is partly surrounded by an annular space (41) through which the fuel flows between the pump working chamber (40) and the inner chamber (18). From the annular space (41) branches a by-pass (43) through which the fuel flows into a further annular chamber (48) partly surrounding the valve (32). The annular chamber (48) is relieved towards the fuel tank via a return line. The two annular chambers (41, 48) have fuel flowing continuously through them owing to the pressure prevailing in the inner chamber (18), thus providing cooling for the pump working chamber (40) and the valve (32).

    • A distributor type fuel injection pump has a distributor shaft (19) stiffly coupled to a driving shaft (13). When rotated, the distributor shaft successively supplies injection nozzles (29) with fuel from a pump working chamber (22). Pump pistons (21) are slidingly mounted each in a radial bore (20) among a plurality of radial bores (20) arranged in the distributor shaft (19). The pump pistons (31) on the one hand delimit the pump working chamber (22) and on the other hand are frictionally connected to a coaxial cam ring (26) through rollers (24) held in roller saddles (23). In order to simplify the manufacture of the injection pump, the driving shaft (11) grasps the distributor shaft (19) with a cup-like coupling head (34). A number of axial slots (35) that corresponds to the number of radial bores (20) is arranged in the cup wall to slidingly receive the roller saddles (23). Coupling is ensured by a coupling disk (37) provided with radial coupling projections (371-374) that form-fittingly enter the axial slots (35), and with a recess (38) into which a front journal (39) of the distributor shaft (19) is form-fittingly received (fig. 1).

    • The invention relates to a fuel-injection valve comprising an outer valve needle (15), which co-operates with a valve seat by means of a longitudinal displacement (20), to open and close at least one outer injection orifice (22). An inner valve needle (17) is situated in the outer valve needle (15), said inner needle co-operating with the valve seat (20) by means of a longitudinal displacement to open and close at least one inner injection orifice (24). The fuel pressure in a control chamber (28) that can be filled with pressurised fuel acts on the outer valve needle (15) and the inner valve needle (17) in such a way that a closing force is exerted in the direction of the valve seat (20) on said inner valve needle (17) and outer valve needle (15). The inner valve needle (17) is provided with an inner pressure surface (48) and the outer valve needle (15) is provided with an outer pressure surface (49), which, when pressure is applied, exert a respective hydraulic opening force on the inner valve needle (17) and the outer valve needle (15) in opposition to the closing force. The outer valve needle (15) is at least partially surrounded by an inlet chamber (12), in which pressurised fuel is constantly available, the inner pressure surface (48) and the outer pressure surface (49) being constantly impinged by the fuel in the inlet chamber (12).
