摘要： A resource context system (“context system”) computes a contextual profile for a resource based on selection data for the resource and contextual profiles of other resources that are identified as relevant to the resource. The contextual profile includes values that specify measures of relevance of the resource to each of a plurality of corresponding topics. The contextual profile is provided to a processing system, such as an advertisement management system or a search system that can identify topics for which the resource is relevant based on the contextual profile.

摘要： Optical waveguides with power monitoring or optical detection capabilities are disclosed. The waveguide includes a lower cladding, a core disposed on the lower cladding, an upper cladding disposed on the core and a trench extending transversely through a distal end of the lower cladding, core and upper cladding. The trench includes a distal wall that provides a reflective surface disposed at an angle relative to the end of the core of greater than 90°. A detector is disposed above the trench for receiving a reflected light beam off of the reflective surface. Various methods of manufacturing these devices are also disclosed.

摘要： An intestinal lengthening device and method for lengthening the intestine of infants and neonates. The method steps include: resecting a section of intestine to be lengthened; closing the one end of the intestine section, preferably the proximal end, and attaching the other end to an opening in the abdominal wall to form a fistula with stoma; allowing the attachments to heal; attaching the intestinal lengthening device; applying and maintaining 5-20 kPa of tension to the device; allowing the gut to rest for 7 days when the desired length is reached; removing the intestinal lengthening device; reattaching the intestinal section to the intestine. The device includes an inserted end that attaches to the mucosal surface of an intestinal section, an abdominal end that attaches to the abdomen of the patient, and a tension rod to incrementally increase the distance between the two ends. An in situ device includes a sealed tension rod between 2 expansion tips.
