    • An enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture comprises (wt.%) a mixture of enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonates (60-25), and a mixture of modified unsubstituted alkylbenzene sulfonates (40-75). An enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture comprises (wt.%) a mixture of enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonates (60-25) of formula (I), and a mixture of modified unsubstituted alkylbenzene sulfonates (40-75) of formula (II). The mixture of enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonates contains two or more of the enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonates differing in molecular weight of the anion of formula (I). It has a sum of carbon atoms in R 1>, L, and R 2> of 9-15, an average aliphatic carbon content of 10-14C. The Y has a sum of carbon atoms of 9-15, preferably 10-14, and has an average aliphatic carbon content of 10-14, in which the enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture has a 2/3-phenyl index of 275-10000: [Image] L : acyclic aliphatic moiety consisting of C and H, having two methyl terminals, and having no substituents other than A, R 1>, and R 2>; M : cation or cation mixture having a valence q; a and b : integers such that the enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonates are electroneutral; R 1>1-3C alkyl; R 2>H, 1-3C alkyl; A : benzene moiety; Y : unsubstituted linear aliphatic moiety consisting of carbon and hydrogen having two methyl terminals. Independent claims are included for: (a) a detergent composition comprising (wt.%) an enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture (0.1-95), conventional cleaning adjuncts other than surfactants (0.0000-99.9), and a surfactant other than the enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture (0-50), provided that when the detergent composition comprises any other alkylbenzene sulfonate than the alkylbenzene sulfonate of the enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture, and enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture and the other alkylbenzene sulfonate, as a mixture, have an overall 2/3-phenyl index of 275-10000; (b) a medium 2/3-phenyl surfactant mixture consisting of (wt.%) a first alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant (1-60) which is an enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant, and a second alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant (40-99) which is an enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture other than the enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture, in which the second alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant has a 2/3-phenyl index of 75-160 provided that the medium 2/3-phenyl surfactant mixture has a 2/3-phenyl index of 160-275; (c) A process for preparing a medium 2/3-phenyl surfactant mixture comprising blending the first alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant and the second alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant, and blending the nonsulfonated precursor of the first alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant and the nonsulfonated precursor of the second alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant and sulfonating the blend;and (d) an enhanced alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant mixture comprising the product of a process comprising alkylating benzene with an alkylating mixture, sulfonating, and neutralizing, in which the alkylating mixture comprising (wt.%) methyl-substituted 9-20C monoolefins (1-99.9), the methyl-substituted monoolefins having structures identical with those of the branched monoolefins formed by dehydrogenating branched paraffins of formula R 1>LR 2>, and 9-20C linear aliphatic olefins (0.1-85), in which the alkylating mixture contains the branched 9-20C monoolefins having at least two different carbon numbers in the 9-20C range, and has a mean carbon content of 9-15C, in which the components are at a weight ratio of >=15:85.
