    • PURPOSE:To surely hold tape type optical fibers into spiral grooves by providing a rotary twisting die which is positioned on the downstream side of a rotary eyeboard in the feed direction of an S and Z compose slot and is provided projectingly with the projecting parts holding the tape type optical fibers on the inside periphery. CONSTITUTION:The tape type optical fibers 5 guided by a stationary eyeboard 15 are further guided by the rotary eyeboard 18 and are inserted into the prescribed spiral grooves 2 by the rotary twisting die 23. The projections of the rotary eyeboard 18, i.e., screws 29 of a fitting body 21 and the projecting parts of the rotary twisting die 23, i.e., screws 29 of a fitting body 26 are fitted into the spiral grooves 2 and, therefore, the rotary eyeboard 18 and the rotary twisting die 23 turn as the S and Z compose slot 1 progresses. The rotating direction thereby inverts at every one rotation. The projections of the rotary eyeboard 18 and the projecting parts of the rotary twisting die 23 are constituted of the screws 29 and, therefore, the amt. of the projections to be fitted into the spiral grooves 2 is optionally adjustable.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent detection delay and to precisely detect a phase even if a center member has low twist rigidity. SOLUTION: A circular member 12 is freely rotatably supported to a base 11, and a pin member engaged to the spiral groove of the center member 2 is fitted to the circular member 12 by making it protrude to the inner side of a radial direction. A first gear 123 fixed to the circular member is engaged with a second gear 142 fixed to the operation shaft of a potentiometer. A relative rotation angle from the initial rotation positions of the pin member and the circular member is detected. Coil springs 151 are extended downward from the right/left positions of the circular member in the initial rotation position and they are fitted to the base by fitting arms 153. Equal elastic stress forces are operated on the circular member by a pair of the coil springs. The spring constants of the coil springs are set so that rotary force canceling rotary inertia force accompanied by the rotation of the pin members and the circular member when the deviation of a phase occurs operates on the circular member.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire drawing method of an optical fiber preventing increase in loss percentage according to the wire drawing and increasing efficiency of the wire drawing of the optical fiber by using an optical fiber base material even having a large diameter. SOLUTION: Whole of an optical fiber base material 1 having a large diameter is fused in a first heating furnace 7 and drawn to an optical fiber base material 2 having a thin diameter, then fused in a second heating furnace 11 and subjected to a wire drawing to obtain an optical fiber 3. A drawing force to draw the thinned optical fiber base material and a feeding force to the second heating furnace are applied to the thinned optical fiber base material with keeping the base material to the second heating furnace by pulling means 5 provided in the vicinity of upside of the second heating furnace. The wire drawing of the optical fiber is finished in a state of keeping a dummy bar 1a at a top end of the thinned optical fiber base material after the finish of the drawing and only a residual part 2a can be a lost amount. Positions of whole the first heating furnace and the pulling means are horizontally adjusted to the first heating furnace by a drawing feeding means 10 while the whole is fed at a prescribed feeding speed to the first heating furnace corresponding to the wire drawing.

    • PURPOSE:To surely position a cable on the peripheral surface of a drum, and to prevent generation of a winding disorder, by applying tension to the cable in the winding operation by providing a tension applying mechanism. CONSTITUTION:An elevating body 8 is lowered to a drum installing position by a motor 9, a cable drum 101 is installed between grasping members 10, and the drum 101 is raised to a winding position. A cable guide is at the lower end position by a moving mechanism 14, and the upper surface of the belt 28 of a lower side guide 24 is at the height same as the upper end of the peripheral surface 101a of the drum. In this case, the inserting clearances of the self- sustaining type cable 150 are formed inside a lead-in side guide 33, between the belts 28 and 32, and inside a lead-out side guide 43. When the cable 150 is inserted to a guide 12 and the holding of the roller is finished, the cable is conveyed to the winding peripheral surface 101a, and the tip of the cable is fixed to the jaw of the drum 101, and the cable is wound up. At the same time, a load is given to the shaft of a roller 27A by a powder clutch. A sliding board is reciprocated by a traverse mechanism linking with the winding operation.
