摘要： A dual composition hard coated chewing gum is provided which exhibits improved long-term shelf stability under storage conditions involving constant exposure to the moisture contained in the atmosphere. The dual composition hard coated chewing gum is ideally suited for pellet chewing gum having pellet shapes which cannot easily be protected from atmospheric moisture by packaging. The dual composition hard coated chewing gum has a gum center which includes a gum base, a bulk portion, and one or more flavoring agents. The dual composition hard coated chewing gum also has an outer coating which includes layers which contain from about 50 to about 100% xylitol; and layers which contain from about 50 to about 100% hydrogenated isomaltulose. A method of preparing the dual composition hard coated chewing gum is also provided.

摘要： A water purification or filtration system supplies purified or filtered water into an unpressurized, heavily insulated reservoir. A thermoelectric module thermally coupled to the reservoir pumps heat into or out of the reservoir, heating or cooling the purified water. A flow director thermally coupled to the thermoelectric module "shapes" room temperature water, which may be brine wastewater produced by the purification system or tap water diverted from the main water line by an in-line flow restrictor into a thin sheet flowing through a thin passage in the flow directors. Pumped heat from the thermoelectric module thereby is efficiently absorbed by the thin sheets of water, which may be discharged into a drain. A sealed electric pump delivers purified or filtered cooled (or heated) water to a spigot in response to actuating of a control switch.

摘要： A sensing unit includes a re-usable portion which is isolated from system fluids and a disposable portion. The disposable portion includes an enclosure that defines an internal cavity with one wall of the enclosure being constituted by a flexible diaphragm that is exposed to operating pressure of the system. The re-usable portion has mounted therein a sensing array at a position adjacent to a non-system pressure side surface of the diaphragm. The sensing array includes a plurality of sensing elements which are arranged as radial inner and outer sets with each set being adapted to preferentially sense a deflection of a central portion of the diaphragm. An output signal representative of the fluid pressure in the fluid system is established based on a ratio of deflection signals from the sets of sensing elements. Preferably, the sensing elements constitute capacitive plates that have equally exposed surface areas.

Taber Stiffness and Instron yields are preferably at least 5 percent lower than those for a comparable wax containing gum.The wax-free chewing gums may be produced and wrapped at about from 10 percent to about 60 percent of the time required for comparable wax containing chewing gums.
