    • In a focal plane camera shutter of the type having opening blades and closing blades which are actuated sequentially to provide an exposure, the opening blades are operated by an operating member which is biased in a direction to move the blades to aperture-closing position. The opening blades are moved to open position when the shutter is released by a driving member which is biased in a direction to open the blades and is releasably connected to the operating member by a connecting member. At approximately the termination of the exposure, the connecting member is actuated to release the blade operating member from the driving member whereupon they are moved by the aforementioned bias to closed position. The camera is then reset by moving the driving member to its set position whereupon the connecting member again connects the driving member with the blade operating member. The closing blades may likewise have an operating member releasably connected to a driving member by a connecting member which is released upon termination of the exposure so that the closing blades likewise return to set position.

    • A diaphragm control device for flash photography is incorporated in a programming electric eye camera including an exposure control circuit and capable of automatically setting exposure time and diaphragm aperture according to the light of subject, the exposure control circuit has a photoconductive element and is adapted for controlling an electromagnet.The device includes a diaphragm lever operating in a fixed manner by the action of a spring to define diaphragm aperture, a control arm of a distance setting member, a diaphragm regulation lever controlled by the control arm and a change lever for interchanging first or second positions, at respective positions the diaphragm regulation lever being out of or in the turnable area of the diaphragm control lever.For daylight photography, the diaphragm regulation lever is forced by the change lever to be at the first position, and the diaphragm operating lever is controlled by an exposure control circuit to form a programming shutter adapted for automatically setting exposure time and diaphragm aperture according to the light of subject. On the other hand for flash photography, the diaphragm regulation lever is forced by the change lever to be in the second position, and the diaphragm operating lever is controlled alternatively either by said diaphragm regulation lever or by the exposure control circuit dependent on the light of subject so as to accomplish an exposure through the smaller of respective diaphragm apertures dependent on camera-subject distance and on scene light.

The interlocking member has a first arm which engages with the operating member during movement thereof at the beginning portion of the shutter release motion and the operating member thereafter drives the interlocking member to a position in which the interlocking member actuates the selftimer device to initiate a timing operation. Near the end of the timing operation, the selftimer device engages with a second arm of the interlocking member and thereafter drives the interlocking member to another position during the course of which a translating lever mounted on the interlocking member actuates the shutter release member to initiate release of the shutter.

    • A focal plane shutter for a camera of the type wherein an image is viewed through the photographing lens by use of a viewfinder arranged on top of the camera body. The shutter blade mechanism comprises a group of opening blades and a group of closing blades, each group of blades consisting of a plurality of separate blades which are actuated to run in the vertical direction of the camera for exposing the film. The lower group of blades has a larger vertical dimension when in the retracted condition than the upper group of blades and such is achieved by using a different number or different size of blades in the two blade groups. In both groups, the slit-forming blades are mounted by means of a link mechanism to effect parallel running movement of the blades. The pivot shafts for mounting the slit-forming blades are disposed at a position outside of the region lying vertically below the viewfinder.
