    • A plastic sheet product having a matte finish comprises a core layer of a thermoplastic polymer and at least one layer of a capstock composition which overlies, and is bonded to, at least one face of the core layer. The capstock composition comprises the same or different thermoplastic polymer and contains a plurality of discrete particles immiscible with and dispersed in the thermoplastic polymer of the capstock composition. The sheet product may be prepared by the co-extrusion of the thermoplastic polymer and the capstock composition, and in a particular embodiment, such co-extrusion may be conducted by means of a feedblock. In a particular embodiment, the thermoplastic polymer of the core layer and that of the capstock composition may be the same, such as in the instance of a methylmethacrylate-methylacrylate copolymer. Sheet products prepared in accordance with the invention exhibit improved post-processability and ease of surface maintenance, and may be fabricated into a variety of products including light diffusers, projection screens, and the like.

    • An event reporting program (48) is provided which electronically records information critical to reconstructing events occurring during an emergency incident. The event reporting program (48) includes an event recording component (204) for recording events as they occur during the incident, and a post-processing component (206) for further processing the events recorded by the event recording component after completion of the incident. The event recording component (204) enables an emergency service provider to input a plurality of event records (148) describing each event as it occurs and the time at which each event takes place. The event recording component also enables an emergency service provider to input a predefined protocol of expected event records. Each expected event record (148) identifies an event which is expected to occur during the incident and a time at which the event is expect to occur. Finally, the event recording component also includes a number of tools for providing and/or recording information in addition to the event records to the emergency service provider, e.g., an address book, drug guidelines, a narrative recorder, etc. The post-processing component (206), on the other hand, enables the user to modify or add to the event records (148) and other information previously recorded by the event recording component. In addition, the post-processing component (206) exports event records (148) to and imports event records (148) from external devices, such as a remote computer or medical electronic device. Finally, the post-processing component (206) generates a run report including the recorded event records (148) and information related to the incident.

    • A highly tensioned, suspended pipeline (HTSP) which is especially useful in permafrost regions, rugged terrain, and active seismic fault areas. Basically, the pipeline is comprised of segments which are fluidly connected together to form the desired length of the line. Each segment is comprised of a length of tensioned pipeline which extends between two fixed anchors and which is suspended over a plurality of vertical support towers therebetween. The length of pipeline is greater than the distance between the anchors to allow the pipeline to sag significantly between adjacent vertical supports whereby there is no need for expansion loops in the line.

    • The present invention comprehends the provision of a fluid tight holding chamber which accumulates solution from the vial that aspirates during mixing or drawing fluid from the vial or is pressured out of the syringe upon extraction of the cannula from the vial. The holding chamber is defined in conjunction with the vial septum by a shield cap that surrounds and seals to the neck of the vial. The shield cap defines a guide for the cannula of the syringe and directs the cannula through a sealing member, the holding chamber, the septum and into the vial. One aspect of the invention provides a sleeve portion on the shield cap that receives and retains the syringe barrel. An arm is provided on the sleeve portion and has a notch that holds the syringe barrel in a predetermined position during shipment and storage of the assembly.

    • A modular, foraminous ground cover for constructing custom floricultural grounds displays. Pre-shaped, fiberglass ground cover subassembly modules are provided with a plurality of discretely placed foramens which will accommodate therein the placement of seedlings or plants. The foramens are of varied sizes, with the larger susceptible of diminishment, during planting and plant growth and, enlargeable at harvest time. The subassembly modules are joinable to one another by tongue-in-groove margins that are straight edges interior of a display assembly; the outer border of the display is reinforced and is defined as its periphery. Where required for strength and pest protection, a flexible planar strip is attachable to the display periphery reinforcement and serves as an in-ground footing and rodent barrier.

    • A liquid dielectric having a surface that is contacted by an end of an electrode so as to form a contact area between the electrode and dielectric liquid wherein said area is limited thereby providing a contact resistance that is large compared to the rest of the electrode and dielectric liquid. Current through the contact area causes local heating of the electrode at the contact and raises its temperature toward the melting point of the electrode. Heating causes an increase in resistance of the electrode region so that the area of contact can be increased further immersion of the electrode. The contact area becomes a high-energy region where high energy reactions can be sustained such as fusion and the erosion of the electrode to generate powder having a very fine particle size. When the intention is to generate powders, compounds may be dissolved in the liquid containing elements that combine with the eroding surface of the electrode to provide particles having a stoichimetric ration that depends on the concentration of the dissolved compound. In this manner, finely divided particles of Ba Ferrite are generated using an iron electrode and Barium Hydroxide dissolved in water.
