    • In a document feeding and imaging system with a document input tray for sequentially feeding a set of plural document sheets to a document imaging station to be respectively imaged with variable image processing conditions dependent on the size of the document sheet, including a document sheet size measurement system for measuring at least one dimension of the document sheets, wherein the input tray has associated document size measurement sensors, wherein the set of documents loaded into the input tray may be a mixed size set of different sheet sizes or a set of the same sheet sizes; there is provided an operator selectable input for a mixed size set providing a mixed size set control signal which actuates a special prescan document size sensing operational mode for sensing the sheet size as the document is fed past the document imaging station without its being imaged, and then automatically re-feeding that document to the imaging station to be imaged under image processing conditions controlled by the document size signal. If there is no mixed size set control signal, there is a different operational mode assuming a set of the same sheet documents of a size indicated by the document input tray document size measurement sensors. The mixed size set control signal may also provide a user signal restricting the system to a single pre-set pair of related but different size documents.

    • In a printing method, content of a print job is split into a main portion and a completing portion at a user terminal (10). The main portion is encrypted using the user terminal. The encrypted main portion (32) is sent to a printing device (12). The completing portion is encrypted using a mobile device (20) operatively connected with the user terminal. The encrypted completing portion (34) is stored on the operatively connected mobile device. The mobile device is operatively disconnected from the user terminal, and is operatively connected with the printing device. After the operative connecting: (i) the encrypted main portion is decrypted using the printing device and the completing portion is decrypted using the mobile device; (ii) the decrypted main portion and the decrypted completing portion are combined to reconstruct the print job; and (iii) the reconstructed print job is executed using the printing device.

    • Prioritizing a printing system's basic processing resources includes providing a job contention manager (JCM) that adds a first basic job resource to queues of each basic resource which a first video capability requires to perform a first sub-job.     • An image processing apparatus and method include a plurality of different background suppression data acquisition modes selectable by a user in order to obtain background suppression data from a document being reproduced. The obtained background suppression data is used by an image processing unit to suppress the background region of the document being reproduced. The user is able to select one of the plurality of background suppression data acquisition modes depending upon the user's desire for high speed document reproduction versus the required quality of background suppression. In this manner, the user is able to determine whether document reproduction speed or background suppression quality is to be emphasized. The user's choice of a background suppression data acquisition mode is selectively overridden if the image processing apparatus determines that a more performance-intensive background suppression data acquisition mode may be implemented to improve background suppression quality without an associated loss of document reproduction speed.
