    • PURPOSE:To perform blowing operation efficiently, by specifying the range of a shape factor (steel bath depth / bath surface diameter), and fixing total stirring force per unit molten steel quantity, at blowing in the same converter at every lot with varying variously refining molten steel quantity. CONSTITUTION:At molten steel blowing by converter, the shape factor L0/D0 defined from L0 and D0 as steel bath depth and bath surface diameter respectively is adjusted to 0.15-0.50. Thus all respective times for slag and metal reaction, uniform mixing and gas and metal reaction are shortened. In case said factor is varied in actual operation, control of blowing condition is required for ensuring suitable stirring force. Namely, independently of molten steel quantity charged into converter, the control is necessary by obtaining oxygen passing rate, distance between lance and bath surface, blowing gas quantity for maintaining fixed total stirring force per unit molten steel quantity, while protecting furnace wall.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the development of a crack to be a defect by controlling an air gap quantity developed in a long wall side at the corner part of a mold by the position of fins in a fin roll nearest to the short wall to make the solidifying speeds of molten steel in the long wall and the short wall of the mold almost equal to each other. CONSTITUTION:The mold 9 formed of a pair of belts 7a, 7b synchronously shifted with the speed of the cast slab endlessly and having the back surface thereof supported with fin rolls 11 arranged on a cooling box 10 and of a pair of shifting short side blocks 8a, 8b composed of plural blocks, is used. The air gap quantity (ag) developed on the long side at the corner part 9c of the mold is controlled by the position of a fin 11n of the fin rolls 11 nearest to the short side to make the solidifying speeds of the molten steel in the long side and the short side of the mold almost equal to each other. By this method, the air cap quantity developed in the corner part of the mold can be controlled and the solidifying speeds of the long side and the short side are made almost equal to prevent the development of the crack to be the defect in the edge parts on the sides of the long side and the short side of the cast slab.
