摘要： There are provided measures for enhanced admission control in relay-enhanced access networks, said measures exemplarily including receipt of a bearer admission request of at least one bearer in a relay-enhanced access network, said at least one bearer consisting of a bearer on an access link between a user equipment and a relay node and a bearer on a backhaul link between said relay node and a base station, and execution of a combined bearer admission control of said at least one bearer at one of said relay node and said base station, including a bearer admission control on the access link and a bearer admission control on the backhaul link. Said measures may exemplarily be applied for enhancing admission control in relay-enhanced LTE and LTE-Advanced access networks.

Context information can also be proactively forwarded from the network control node to candidate neighboring network nodes when it is detected that a radio link failure between a relay node and the network control node, or between the relay node and a UE is possible.

The relay node reports an indication of the average to its controlling access node (eNodeB), either explicitly or implicitly (e.g., a gain applied to the CQI of the downlink between the relay and access nodes). The relay node also checks the UEs' buffer status (actual or predicted) and reports either periodically or based on an underflow/overflow occurrence. For periodic reports, each UE buffer experiencing the overrun/underrun is reported.

A base station selects one or more mobility management entity (MME) pools for assignment to a relay node, with the selection being performed so as to minimize or eliminate handover attempts requiring that a target device support a particular MME pool when the MME pool is not supported by the MME. A base station selects, when communicating with a relay node, a subset of the MME pools that it supports and assigns the subset to the base station. UEs served by the relay node are assigned the MME pool or MME pools assigned to the relay node. The relay node is informed of the MME pools supported by one or more neighbor nodes and, when attempting a handover to a neighbor node, attempts an X2 handover only to neighbor nodes supporting an MME pool assigned to the relay node.
