    • Single-phase full bridge boost converter systems and methods are provided. One system includes a direct-quatrature (D-Q) control system configured to generate a control voltage (vcon) including direct-phase and quadrature-phase voltage components. The system also includes a comparator configured to compare vcon to a carrier waveform voltage, generate switching commands based on the comparison, and transmit the switching commands to a current switch. Another system includes a boost converter including multiple switches coupled to a load and an AC voltage source. The switches are configured to provide charging current to the load in response to receiving switching commands. A D-Q control system configured to receive and delay an ia value, and issue switching commands based on the ia and delayed ia value is also included. A method includes performing a D-Q conversion to generate DC current including direct-phase and quadrature-phase current components, and issuing switching commands based on the current components.

    • Systems, apparatus, and methods for operating inductors in a Z-source inverter in a continuous current mode are provided. One system includes an AC motor, a Z-source inverter, and a processor. The inverter is configured to provide current and reactive power to the AC motor. The processor is configured to monitor the current and instruct the inverter to provide a greater amount of reactive power to the AC motor if the current is below/equal to a threshold amount. An apparatus includes means for determining if current produced by the inverter is below/equal to a threshold amount, and means for altering voltage commands supplied to the inverter so that an AC motor is induced to draw additional reactive power. One method includes determining if a plurality of inductors are providing a threshold current amount, and inducing a motor to draw more reactive power if the current is below/equal to the threshold amount.

    • A method of using a cycloconverter switches a first switch of the first topology type to an on state after a magnitude of a current through an output inductor becomes less than a predetermined current threshold, and switches a second switch of the first topology type to an off state a first time after switching the first switch to the on state. The cycloconverter includes nodes on a first port, nodes on a second port, a switch pair coupled between a first node of the first port and a first node of the second port, a switch pair coupled between a second node of the first port and a first node of the second port, a switch pair coupled between a first node of the first port and a second node of the second port, and a switch pair coupled between a second node of the first port and a second node of the second port. Each switch pair includes a switch of each topology type.
