    • A method and apparatus for video coding including an Intra transform Skip mode is disclosed. When the transform Skip mode is ON for a transform unit, embodiments according to the present invention apply different coding processes to the transform unit. The coding process with the transform Skip mode ON uses a different scan pattern from the coding process with the transform Skip mode OFF. According to various embodiments, the transform Skip mode is enabled when the transform unit size is 4x4, the prediction unit and the transform unit having the same size, or the prediction unit uses an INTRA_NxN mode. When the transform Skip mode is enabled, a flag can be signaled in the bitstream to indicate the transform Skip mode selection. Furthermore, the flag can be incorporated in a picture level, a slice level or a sequence level of the video bitstream.

    • Certain aspects and embodiments of the present invention are directed to a porous medium screen that can be disposed in a wellbore through a fluid- producing formation. The porous medium screen can include a porous medium and a retaining structure. The porous medium can be a material having one or more pores. The one or more pores can be adapted to allow a fluid to flow through the porous medium and to prevent one or more particles from flowing through the porous medium. The retaining structure can be adapted to retain the porous medium in a position circumferentially surrounding a section of a tubing string and to prevent expansion of the porous medium. The retaining structure can include a shroud and one or more stoppers. The shroud can be adapted to circumferentially surround the porous medium. Each stopper can be adapted to circumferentially surround the section of a tubing string at an edge of the porous medium.

In another embodiment of the present invention, a redundancy-removed spatial-temporal MVP candidate set is determined and the number of candidates in the redundancy-removed spatial-temporal MVP candidate set is checked to determine whether it is smaller than a threshold. If the number of candidates is smaller than the threshold, a zero motion vector is added to the redundancy-removed spatial-temporal MVP candidate set. The redundancy-removed spatial-temporal MVP candidate set is then provided for encoding or decoding of the motion vector of the current block.

    • Apparatus and methods for autonomously controlling fluid flow in a subterranean well are presented, and in particular for providing a fluid diode to create a relatively high resistance to fluid flow in one direction and a relatively low resistance to fluid flowing in the opposite direction. The diode is positioned in a fluid passageway and has opposing high resistance and low resistance entries. In one embodiment, the high resistance entry has a concave, annular surface surrounding an orifice and the low resistance entry has a substantially conical surface. The concave, annular surface of the high resistance entry preferably extends longitudinally beyond the plane of the orifice. In a preferred embodiment, the fluid will flow in eddies adjacent the concave, annular surface.

    • An apparatus and method are described for autonomously controlling flow of fluid in a subterranean well, where fluid flow is controlled based on a fluid characteristic, such as viscosity or density, which changes over time. Fluid flows into a vortex assembly where a centrifugal force is imparted to the fluid. A less viscous fluid will have a relatively greater velocity and centrifugal force than a more viscous fluid. The fluid exits the vortex chamber by both a vortex outlet and a peripheral outlet. An autonomous valve element moves between an open position, in which fluid flows freely through the peripheral outlet, and a closed position, in which fluid flow through the peripheral outlet is restricted. The valve element is moved by the centrifugal force of the fluid, such that a fluid having a higher centrifugal force moves the valve element to the closed position, thereby reducing the total fluid flow through the vortex assembly.
