    • Disclosed is a system and method for model-driven datastore. The model-driven datastore includes an object persistence model editor for developing specific object persistence models based on an object persistence metamodel. The object persistence model consists of object model, object access pattern and user defined functions. The object model consists of a collection of object definition, said object definition supports at least one basic type or structure type of attributes. The object access pattern defines the access path that are used to retrieve the object instances, where the access path is consists of a collection of actions. The actions comprise at least one of the following a self action, parent action, or children action. User defined functions are declaratively defined and supports group operators. The model driven datastore further includes a model transformer for generating an object index based on object access patterns and executable code for supporting object access patterns and user defined functions and an object store manager for executing generated code that allows applications to create, update, retrieval or persist objects.

    • A semantic publish/subscribe system enables semantic event routing and allows publishers (resp. subscribers) to use self-defined event schemas to publish (resp. subscribe) events. The constraints on value-based publish/subscribe systems that publishers and subscribers must share the same event schemas are removed. With ontology support, the system conducts event correlation based on their semantics using relational operators. Event sources are searched for subscriptions and selected events are automatically correlated according to subscriptions. The system enables efficient semantic event routing by rewriting the subscription SQL statement, wherein no redundant events are generated.

    • A system and method permits a user to observe the Quality of Service (QoS) of Web services and allows dynamic selection based on the user's preference. The system is built on QoS observation meta-model and comprises a QoS observation manager, service criteria generator, service repository, evaluation manager and service invocation manager. The QoS observation manager allows users to define observation model and deploy to the service criteria generator. The service criteria generator computes the QoS criteria values of services by subscribing events which include user feedback events and service execution events, based on deployed observation model. The service repository provides the persistence storage for QoS criteria value. The evaluation manager allows users to specify selection preferences and select services based on QoS ranking. The service invocation manger invokes Web services and publishes events according to the QoS of Web services. The system enables users to observe the QoS of Web service and select Web service based on QoS ranking that reflects the user's selection preference.

    • A correlation-based service mediator consists of Semantic Query Generator, Service Query Manager, Service Invocation Flow Generator, Service Invocation Manager, Expression Interpreter and Service Invocation Result Cache. The Semantic Query Generator handles service requests. It generates Semantic Query statements. Basically, the generator converts service request to Semantic Query based on input/output parameters in the service request. The Service Query Manager interfaces with an Ontology Engine, in order to execute the semantic queries. It will pass the query results to Service Invocation Flow Generator. The Service Invocation Flow Generator creates service invocation flow definition based on query results passed from Service Query Manager. The Service Invocation Manager executes the flow definitions. It also manages a service invocation result cache, so that invocation results can be saved and reused for later service request. When the execution results are not available in cache, the Service Invocation Manager invokes service according to flow definition. It should be noted that when attribute dependent functions are invoked Expression Interpreter compute the execution results. The service mediator possesses two major functionalities: service matching and service invocation.
