The transmission apparatus comprising a transmitter including a first media independent interface to generate a data stream, the data stream having a preamble and at least one transport stream, and a first physical layer device to receive a data frame from the first media independent interface, a back plane board to receive the data frame from the transmitter, and enable distribution of the received data frame to individual subscribers, and a second media independent interface to receive at least one transport stream from the second physical layer device, and enable individual subscribers to received transport stream, wherein the second media independent interface includes a second physical layer device to identify a preamble of the data frame received from the back plane board, perform a clock recovery operation, and generate at least one transport stream of the data frame.

    • A multi-wavelength light source unit for optical communication system is disclosed. The light source includes a demultiplexer for demultiplexing a multiplexed light signal into a plurality of lights having different wavelengths and a multiplexer that receives the demultiplexed lights and multiplexes the demultiplexed lights into the multiplexed light signal. Input ports of the multiplexer are respectively port-to-port connectable to each one of a plurality of output ports of the demultiplexer. The light source unit includes a plurality of semiconductor optical amplifiers amplifying the demultiplexed lights output form the demultiplexer, and a plurality of beam splitters for splitting the amplified demultiplexed lights into two parts, so as to provide the respective input ports of the multiplexer with a split part of the lights, while to transmit the other part of the lights out of the beam splitters.

    • Disclosed is a device for filtering out a null packet in a data stream for example an MPEG-2 TS (Transport Stream) to avoid bandwidth waste when it is transmitted to a backbone network. The device includes a plurality of receiving interfaces, a filter unit, and a controller. The receiving interfaces receive parallel data, such as DVB-ASI (Digital Video Broadcasting-Asynchronous Serial Interface) inputs as channel-by-channel MPEG-2 data. The filter unit counts the respective numbers of data packets and non-data packets of the data input from the receiving interfaces and filters a null packet in the data. A network transmission unit transmits the filtered data to a backbone network. The controller calculates a bit rate based on both of the count numbers received from the filter unit.
