According to one example embodiment, a method may include receiving, by a first wireless node in a first wireless network, a request from a second wireless node in a second wireless network to borrow spectral resources from the first wireless network. The method may further include determining a cost of granting the request, the cost being based at least in part on a cost to a lending cell within the first wireless network from which the spectral resources will be borrowed and a cost to neighboring cells of the lending cell. The method may further include lending the spectral resources to the second wireless node based at least in part on the determined cost of granting the request.

The multi-band scheduler may be configured to: receive one or more data units of a flow; assign each received data unit of the flow to a first frequency band of a plurality of frequency bands; determine a band transfer condition for the flow; and perform a context transfer from the first frequency band to a second frequency band for the flow based on the determined band transfer condition.

Thus, certain embodiments of the present invention can protect the most error-prone link while reducing the overall delay experienced by the user.

摘要： An approach is provided for cooperatively sharing spectrum. A threshold value associated with an acceptable level of interference to a first radio network is determined. A beacon message specifying the threshold value is generated for transmission from the first radio network to one or more nodes of a second radio network that is configured to exchange traffic for mobile services. The first radio network and the second radio network share spectral resources including adjacent bands for the respective radio networks, and the beacon message is used for controlling the level of interference to the first radio network caused by the one or more nodes of the second radio network.

摘要： Operators of wireless communication systems operating in the same geographic area are able to build networks on neighboring/adjacent bands, even if one of the systems is using a TDD mode and the other systems is using a FDD mode without using excessive large guard bands. A beaconing mechanism with signaling is used to impose an exclusion zone and power restriction, antenna direction, and other operational parameters. A newcomer operator is able to get an accurate knowledge of the interference to and from the sites of the AP of the existing operator so that the newcomer can deploy his APs without causing interference to the existing APs.
