    • Column which includes a first column with an upper layer of H2SO4 silica gel and a lower layer AgNO3 silica gel and a second column packed with alumina, connected detachably to a lower end of the first column. An oily liquid containing polychlorinated biphenyls, is added to the upper layer and heated. An aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent is supplied to the upper layer, whereby polychlorinated biphenyls captured by the first column are dissolved in the aliphatic hydrocarbon and then flow to the second column. The polychlorinated biphenyls are captured by the alumina which is located near the inlet of the second column, which is then detached from the first column. A hydrophobic solvent is passed through the second column in a direction opposite to the direction in which the aliphatic hydrocarbon was passed, providing an extract containing the polychlorinated biphenyls dissolved in a small amount of the hydrophobic solvent.

    • A highly reliable hydrophilic sample for analysis of dioxins suitable for analysis through a bioassay method is prepared from a hydrophilic solution of dioxins simply and in a short period of time. A preparation method for a sample for analysis of dioxins includes: supplying a hydrophobic solution of dioxins to a latter column (22) filled with a silica gel-based filler (22a); supplying to and passing through the latter column (22) supplied with the hydrophobic solution a hydrophobic solvent; supplying to and passing through a solvent substitution column (30) filled with an alumina-based filler (30a) the hydrophobic solvent passed through the latter column (22); supplying to and passing through the solvent substitution column (30) a hydrophilic solvent capable of dissolving dioxins from a second solvent supply part (70) in a direction opposite to the direction of the hydrophobic solvent passed through the solvent substitution column (30); and acquiring the hydrophilic solvent passed through the solvent substitution column (30).

    • A trolley for supporting and transporting units of electronic equipment is provided with a front pair of legs and a rear pair of legs, with horizontal members being integrally formed with each pair of legs. A platform is supported upon the horizontal member of the rear legs and upon a mount member rotatably mounted upon the horizontal member of the front pair of legs. Supporting brackets are fixed to each of the rear legs, upon which are attached retaining brackets, with the horizontal member of the front legs being retained within these retaining brackets in rotatable manner. Link members are rotatably coupled to the lower ends of the legs, in such a way that the entire assembly may be folded together into a very compact space. Greatly increased strength and rigidity by comparison with conventional trolleys is ensured.

    • A column 1 is formed which includes a first column 10 in which an upper layer 14 made of sulfuric acid silica gel and a lower layer 15 made of silver nitrate silica gel are stacked and packed and a second column 20 packed with an alumina layer 23 and connected detachably to the lower end part of the first column 10. An oily liquid containing polychlorinated biphenyls, such as an electric insulating oil, is added to the upper layer 14 and then kept for a predetermined time in a state heated to at least 35° C. An aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent such as n-hexane is supplied to the upper layer 14 having been cooled to ordinary temperature. As a result, polychlorinated biphenyls captured by the first column 10 are dissolved in the aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent and then flows to the second column 20. The polychlorinated biphenyls are captured by that part of the alumina layer 23 which is located near the inlet of the second column 20. The second column 20 is then detached from the first column 10. A hydrophobic solvent such as toluene is supplied to and passed through the second column 20 in a direction opposite to the direction in which n-hexane was passed. Thus, an extract containing the polychlorinated biphenyls dissolved in a small amount of the hydrophobic solvent is obtained. The time taken to obtain the polychlorinated-biphenyls extract after addition of the oily liquid to the first column 10 is generally as short as about 2 to 10 hours.
