摘要： The invention enhances channel correction techniques for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems so that higher effective data rates can be achieved with a minimal processing load. OFDM channel values determined due to known sequences in one domain can be used to seed solution matrices for channel value determination in other domains. This method can be applied to multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems in order to deal with signal distortion while maintaining a reasonable processor loading profile. In another embodiment, a method to optimize channel partitioning during channel estimation processing in an ultra-wide band (UWB) OFDM wireless communications network includes creating a plurality of windows across a time-frequency channel plane, adaptively sizing the plurality of windows, and merging the plurality of windows.

At least one full rate physical channel and/or half rate physical channel are provided to support communication services that do not require higher order modulation (HOM), and at least one fractional rate physical channel is provided to support the communication services that require HOM. The fractional rate channel occupies N timeslots for every M frames of a channel, whereby N/M is less than one half. The fractional rate channel may be used when communication services are provided on a channel that uses either 16 or 32 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) in a dual transfer mode (DTM) session. The communications services include at least one of voice communication services, circuit switched (CS) services and supplementary services.

摘要： Signals encoded with watermark information are generated and broadcast into a protected area for capture by illicit recording devices along with their intended targets. An illicit recording in which at least a portion of the broadcast watermark signals are recorded is obtained and correlated with a known position of the broadcast watermark signals to yield the location of illicit recording devices. In an alternate embodiment, a surveillance device, being image and time synchronized with a signal broadcasting device, monitors and records the protected area. Illicit recordings containing the broadcast watermark are obtained and correlated with corresponding recordings taken by the surveillance device to identify the location of illicit recording devices. In an alternate embodiment, the surveillance device further monitors the quality of the broadcast watermark signals and adjusts them accordingly to achieve a desired quality level.

The cover signal is the primary communication signal, and may be binary bits, multi valued symbols, analog waveforms, or any other type of primary communication signal. Security strength indication, location tracking, intrusion detection and transmission of non-security information using watermarks are disclosed, along with a system for managing watermarks.
