    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which has peripheral circuits, starting with a DA converting circuit, integrated on a glass substrate while realizing high-definition image display. SOLUTION: The image display device has a display region 100 comprising a plurality of pixels 1 and serial data and instructions inputted from signal lines s1 and s2 are inputted to a buffer circuit 10 through an interface circuit 14 and the DA converting circuit 11. The buffer circuit output is inputted to a horizontal shift register 13 to perform scan writing to signal lines 2 in sequence. A vertical shift register 8 switches ON pixel switches 4 of pixels to be written through gate lines 3, so that the pixels show optical characteristics corresponding to a written image signal. In such a case, a buffer circuit formed of single crystal Si and an electric power generating circuit 32 for the buffer circuit are provided on an FPC and other circuits formed of polycrystal Si are provided on the glass substrate 6.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and its control method for suppressing a rise in luminance caused when a low gray scale (black, for example) is displayed while increasing peak luminance for high gray scale (white, for example).
