    • Test data are written into all password data areas SDAs located on each of surfaces of a disk arranged in a disk drive apparatus. SDAs each having a low error rate are selected. A predetermined number of SDAs dispersed on the plural disk surfaces are selected as effective SDAs from the selected SDAs. Position data of these effective SDAs are registered in an EEPROM. A password is written into each of the effective SDAs in a low error rate order and the disk drive apparatus is set to a locked state. A password input by a user is compared with the password written into each of the effective SDAs to release the locked state. Therefore, when an unlock command is input, the password is read from each of the effective SDAs in the writing sequential order of the password. When the password is correctly read, the read password is compared with the password input by the user. The locked state is released only when these passwords coincide with each other.

    • A traveling speed changeover device for a hydraulic excavator which can optimize the traveling speed in accordance with the road conditions and which enables a working machine of the excavator to be operated during traveling without impairing the simultaneous operation characteristic. To this end, the traveling speed changeover device has a spring set force adjusting device which includes: a traveling speed changeover switch (5); a controller (7) for computing a signal set by the traveling speed changeover switch; a solenoid actuated control pressure changeover valve (6) which operates in accordance with a command given by the controller; and a spring force adjusting cylinder (9) for adjusting the set force of a differential pressure setting spring (11a) of a load sensing valve (11) in accordance with the operation of the solenoid actuated control pressure changeover valve. The traveling speed changeover device further has a motor capacity changeover device for changing the capacity of the traveling motors, including traveling motor capacity changeover valves (13a, 13b) and traveling motor capacity control cylinders (15a, 15b) for changing the capacities of the traveling motors (4a, 4b) over two stages.

A signal generator generates R and L stereophonic signals. The R signal is applied to drive the first side loudspeaker and the L signal is applied to drive the second side loudspeaker. The R and L signals are applied to drive the center loudspeaker unit. The signal generator includes a device for providing a predetermined time delay to the R and L signals applied to drive the center loudspeaker unit with respect to the signals applied to drive the first and second side loudspeakers.

    • Audio equipment designed for use at widely varying ambient noise levels allows an audio signal to be amplified to enhanced levels under noisy conditions without added distortion near the high-amplitude end of its dynamic range. Detected or anticipated ambient noise conditions trigger a dynamic range controller to boost the gain of the audio signal to an extent inversely related to the audio signal amplitude. Thus, low-volume audio will be boosted to a great extent while the high-volume end of the dynamic range will experience little or no additional gain. The net effect is two allowable dynamic ranges, both sharing the same high-end volume level but with possibly widely different low-end volume levels. This gain and dynamic range control may also be performed independently on a number of discrete frequency bands. In addition, noise components inherent to the audio signal may be filtered to ambient noise-dependent extends, or the gain boost may be inhibited at volume levels susceptible to such noise.
