    • An apparatus includes a first rotary disc, a plurality of folding plates arranged at regular intervals along a peripheral zone of the first rotary disc, a plurality of positive motion cams arranged at regular intervals along the peripheral zone of the first rotary disc so as to be interposed between the first rotary disc and the folding plates, a second rotary disc located on the opposite side of the first rotary disc and a plurality of auxiliary plates arranged at regular intervals along a peripheral zone of the second rotary disc. One of the folding plates and one of the auxiliary plates synchronously move into the inside of a contiguous diaper structure and simultaneously the guide arms move into a clearance between the guide blades so that the opposite side edge zones of the crotch region may be held between the guide arms and the guide blades and thereby the crotch region may be tucked into the contiguous diaper structure.

    • A technique is provided for efficiently executing image processing operations such as code editing on a specific region of an image in an image processing apparatus for processing encoded image data such as JPEG 2000 encoded data that have a structure enabling data processing in image region units. Upon storing encoded data of an image in a data storage unit, a first table is generated by a table processing unit and includes plural entries corresponding to respective image regions of the image, each entry storing storage address information of code data of its corresponding image region and position information of this image region. Upon processing the image, a second table is generated by the table processing unit according to a process conducted using the table generated upon storing the encoded data of the image as a basis. The second table is referred to by a data processing unit to process the encoded data of the image.

    • A scheduling method for scheduling a program comprises the steps of: extracting a plurality of traces from a given program such that each of the traces contains a plurality of program blocks executed sequentially, each of the plurality of program blocks containing one or more operators to be executed by arithmetic units of a computer and being separated from another program block in the trace by a branching step that causes a branching to or from a program block outside of the trace; extracting, in each of the plurality of traces, a critical path of the operation conducted by the operators in the trace, the critical path being formed of a plurality of reference operators, the rest of the operators forming movable operators that are conducted concurrently with one or more of the reference operators; and scheduling, in each of the traces, the processing steps of the movable operators such that the maximum of the number of the movable operators conducted concurrently to a reference operator in a given trace, is minimized.

    • An apparatus for manufacturing an absorbent body, having a recessed form die formed on a predetermined face of a predetermined member, moving in one direction along a moving path along the predetermined face; a duct disposed in a predetermined position in the moving path, discharging a gas including fluid absorbent fibers from an opening section toward the predetermined face, an absorbent body being formed by suction of the gas through intake holes at a bottom section of the form die to stack into the form die the fluid absorbent fibers included in the gas when the form die passes by the position of the duct. A gap is formed between the predetermined face and the opening section of the duct. A gas pressure inside the duct is lower than a gas pressure outside the duct by suction of the gas from the bottom section of the form die. A first wall is outside the duct. The first wall is spaced from a wall of the duct by a first spacing and spaced from the predetermined face by a second spacing. An outside gas flow along a direction intersecting with the predetermined face and an outside gas flow along the predetermined face is made to reach the gap by the first wall.
