摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a composite roll having excellent axial strength, wear and crack resistances by putting an intervention ferrite layer between both joint layers of a roll core stock and an outside layer. CONSTITUTION:As for a composite roll composing of a roll core stock 2 and an outside layer 1 joined on the peripheral surface of the stock 2, a ferrite layer 4 intervenes in the interface of the stock 2 and layer 1. The core stock 2 is made out of a low alloy steel whose at least one of tensile and bending strengths is higher than those of the layer 1 and the layer 1 is made out of one of Mo, W or V base high speed tool steels. Hence, a composite roll having excellent axial strength, wear and crack resistances is obtained because the firrite layer acts as a stress relaxation member.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the yield and quality of a thin film by making the vicinity of the circumferential face of an ingot in an equiaxed crystal or a columnar crystal in the radial direction and forging or rolling this steel ingot in case of executing the uni-directional solidification of the molten metal of the mold inside toward the upper part from the lower part. CONSTITUTION:A small equiaxed crystal or columnar crystal in the radial direction is formed on the side face of the ingot developed to the columnar crystal by adding a Co contg. refining agent into a molten metal, impressing a fluctuating magnetic field on the outer peripheral part of a mold or making the mold inside in rugged shape, etc. Casting or rolling is then executed by constraining this uni-directional solidified ingot directly or by coating with an elongating material. The size of the equiaxed crystal or columnar crystal thus developed is formed in >=5mm, etc., the cracking at working time is prevented and the generation of the re-crystalline nuclei of the working time is facilitated. The yield and quality of the thin film forming part of a sputtering target, etc., are improved because forging and rolling can be done on the ingot.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a work roll for hot rolling having high hardness and high wear resistance by subjecting a composed material, which consists of an outside layer material of an Ni cast iron and steel core material integrated by welding, to hardening consisting in annealing and holding to and at a prescribed temp. and cooling, then to high temp. tempering and further, subjecting this material to tempering consisting in air cooling and slow cooling. CONSTITUTION:A consuming electrode 3 which is the outside layer material consisting of the cylindrical Ni cast iron is inserted between the core material 2 made of steel installed on a surface plate 2 and a cylindrical water cooled casting mold 6 and electroslag refining is executed by connecting a power supply E to the electrode. The outside layer material 1 of the Ni cast iron contg. 3.3-6wt.% Ni is thereby welded and integrated to a required length around the core material 2. The resulted composed material is annealed at 500-600 deg.C to relieve strain and stress and to improve machinability; thereafter, the material is heated and held for 1-10 hours to and at 750-1150 deg.C. The composed material after said heating and holding is subjected to the operations of rapid cooling, air cooling and slow cooling and is then subjected to the tempering consisting in heating and holding for 1-10 hours to and at a high tempering temp. ot 450-550 deg.C then air cooling to enhance hardness. The desired work roll for hot rolling is thus obtd.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the reliability on the junction boundaries, the strength of a shaft and the toughness in the titled composite roll by specifying the C and Cr contents of the core and outer layer material independently and welding and bonding both materials by electro-slag remelting. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of a roll core is composed of, by weight, 0.3-1.0% C, 0.5-5% Cr and other suitable elements. The compsn. of the outer layer material is composed of high Cr cast iron contg. 1.5-3.5% C, 10-25% Cr and other suitable elements. The core and outer layer material are subjected to electro-slag remelting and are welded and bonded. Said composite roll is subjected to induction heating to 950-1,100 deg.C, is converted into austenite and is subjected to a heat treatment in the process composed of quenching, sub-zero treatment and tempering. By this method, the shaft and net part having high strength and toughness are provided to the titled composite roll and in which the range of about >=90 HS is retained to at least about 40mm depth from the surface of the roll.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve toughness without degrading hardness and wear resistance by dispersing MC carbide into a cast iron base which is specified in the contents of respective elements and values of Cr/C and W/Mn and consists of tempered martensite and residual austenite. CONSTITUTION:The cast iron compsn. is composed, by weight %, of 1.5-2% C, 15-25% Cr, 1-3.5% W, 1.5-4% Mn, 1-1.5% Si, 0.2-1% Mo, 0.2-1% V, and the balance Fe and has the structure consisting of the temperature martensite and the residual austenite. The M7C3 carbide of about 13-36% area rate is crystallized in the base by such compsn. by which the wear resistance is improved. On the other hand, the M23C6 carbide is controlled to 8-20% area rate, by which the toughness is improved. The wear resistance and toughness are further improved if 0.5-1% Ni and 0.5-1% >=1 kinds among Co, Nb and Ti are incorporated at need into such cast iron.

摘要： PURPOSE:To manufacture a high carbon-high chromium steel improved in spalling resistance by allowing special carbides of Cr, particularly of Nb and V, to crystallize out in the matrix of a metallic structure and by decomposing the special carbides into fine grains by means of hot constrained casting. CONSTITUTION:An ingot is prepared out of high carbon-high chromium steel containing, by weight, 2-3.4% C, 10-30% Cr, 1-10% Nb and 6-10% V. This ingot is subjected to diffusion treatment at a temp. lower than the solidus temp. by 60-100 deg.C to transform the Cr carbides. Subsequently, the ingot is subjected to hot constrained casting in the temp. range of 1,050-1,075 deg.C to divide the Cr carbides and then to isothermal annealing, after casting, at 880-770 deg.C to relieve stress. Further, hardening at 975-1,075 deg.C and high-temp. tempering at 475-550 deg.C are carried out, so that hardness of >=HRC 65.3 is provided and Nb and V carbides ar allowed to crystallize out in the metallic structure.
