摘要： PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of the electrolyte supply path from the outside of the cell so as to stabilize the output of the cell, by providing an intercommunicating passage through a predetermined electrolyte supply groove, electrolyte intercommunicating hole and electrolyte sump for supplying electrolytic solution to a matrix. CONSTITUTION:In the case of supplying an electrolyte, the electrolyte is filled to an electrolyte passage 10 and overflowed into an electrolyte sump 82 of a cell. Then, the electrolyte in the sump 82 is allowed to flow from the hole 82a at the lower portion into an electrolyte supply groove 72 and supplied to a matrix 1 through an electrolyte intercommunicating hole 92. In the case that the electrolyte in the matrix 1 is increased, the remain is overflowed into the electrolyte sump 82 through the electrolyte supply groove 72 and storaged. Further, in the case of the lack of electrolyte in the matrix 1 with evaporation, the electrolyte is supplied from the electrolyte supply groove 72. Therefore, it is possible to constantly maintain the quantity of the electrolyte in the matrix 1 so as to stabilize the output of the cell.

摘要： PURPOSE:To easily replace a cell at assembly and repair of the cell, by laminating the plural single cells to form a block and laminating plural sets of the blocks through cooler parts to form a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:A fuel electrode, oxidizing agent electrode and a matrix holding an electrolyte arranged between the fuel electrode and the oxidizing agent electrode are interposed between separators to form a single cell 2 of a fuel cell, and at least two of the cells 2 are laminated to form a block 1. Then this block 1 is plurally laminated through cooler parts 7 to form a fuel cell laminated unit 8. Accordingly, each block 1 can be assembled while confirming its performance, and a cell of insufficient performance is never assembled capable of both improving reliability and very easily replacing a block seriously deteriorating its performance after long time operation.

摘要： PURPOSE:To both improve a cooling effect and obtain a cooler pipe excellent for phosphoric acid resistance, by arranging the cooler pipe consisting of silicon carbide to at least one place in a cell stack laminating single cells. CONSTITUTION:Many single cells are laminated to form a stack, to prevent a temperature rise due to generation of heat by polarization of the cell, a cooler pipe 1 is arranged to about one place for several cells. This cooler pipe 1 is held to cooler holders 2, built in a fuel cell stack 3 and prepared by high heat conductive silicon carbide with excellent resistance against heat and phosphoric acid. In this way, transfer of heat in the cooler pipe is improved to easily control temperature, while a cooler can be prevented from damage due to infiltration of phosphoric acid from a pin hole or the like, and a long life can be attained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a phosphoric acid matrix whereby a unit cell can be easily laminated, by forming a porous matrix, in which a phosphoric acid resistant material is combined with phosphate, to an electrode surface and impregnating phosphoric acid to the matrix after assembly of a cell. CONSTITUTION:A mixture between a phosphoric acid resistant material consisting of silicon carbonide, zirconium compound oxide, etc. and a metallic kind or the like forming phosphate is added with concentrated phosphoric acid and distrilled water and kneaded to form a paste state. This paste is applied to an electrode, heated and dried to form a porous plate shaped matrix. An opposite electrode is piled to this matrix, after assembly of a cell, phosphoric acid is impregnated to the matrix immediately before use of the cell. By this manufacture method of the phosphoric acid matrix, decrease of cell performance can be prevented.

In this way, the surface of an electrode plate catalytic layer can be formed to a strong water repellent to improve wetness with phosphoric acid.
