    • Control of downlink transmissions associated with a first cell (124) in a cellular communication system (100) is described. A plurality of antennas (117) at different locations are configured to transmit downlink signals associated with the first cell. A subset of the plurality of antennas is caused to transmit a respective probing signal intended for reception by a mobile communication terminal (106). Feedback information is received that is indicative of reception in the mobile communication terminal of the probing signals. At least one specific antenna is selected for downlink transmissions to the mobile communication terminal, based at least in part on the feedback information and the at least one specific antenna is caused to perform downlink transmissions to the mobile communication terminal.

    • The present invention discloses schemes to perform load control taking uplink BLER statistics into account. An uplink load control method and apparatus are provided in a wireless communication system. The uplink load control method comprises estimating uplink load budget in a cell of the wireless communication system; determining whether the cell is over-loaded based on Block Error Rate (BLER) statistics of non-Guarded Bit Rate (non-GBR) users in the cell and/or Fast Congestion Control (FCC) action statistics in the cell; decreasing the uplink load budget if it is determined that the cell is over-loaded; and increasing the uplink load budget if it is determined that the cell is not over-loaded. Preferably, increasing or decreasing of the uplink load budget is based on the BLER stastics BLERstatistic of targeted users by FCC. By means of the BLER and FCC status, BLER of EUL users can be controlled in an acceptable range while maximizing the benefit of FCC in improving load utilization and consequently uplink throughput as much as possible. On the other hand, the uplink load control method can further comprises adjusting a RoT target RoTtgt, based on BLER statistics of Guarded Bit Rate (GBR) users in order to increase load headroom available for non-GBR users in appropriate conditions without violating the performance of GBR users.

    • The invention relates to a radio base station (102) and method in a radio base station of a cellular communications system (100) for controlling self-interference. The radio base station (102) supports communication with a user equipment (101) using multiple uplink and multiple downlink carriers (104a, 104b, 105a, 105b). The method comprises detecting a degraded downlink performance on a downlink carrier (105a) due to self-interference by determining that a set of predefined conditions applies. The method further comprises executing, in response to detection of the degraded downlink performance, an action to reduce self-interference between the uplink and downlink carriers (104a, 104b, 105a, 105b). The action is one of: uplink scheduling to reduce self-interference, deactivation of a secondary uplink carrier (14a, 104b), deactivation of a secondary downlink carrier (105a, 105b), and initiation of carrier reconfiguration to reduce self-interference. Accordingly, benefits of using multi-carrier operation may be balanced against a possible associated drawback of degraded downlink performance due to self-interference.

    • A multi-carrier cellular radio communication system includes a serving base station associate with a serving cell currently serving a mobile radio and a non-serving base station within range of the mobile radio and associated with a non-serving cell. The mobile radio can transmit to the serving base station at the same time over multiple radio frequency carriers. An estimate is made of inter-cell interference in the non-serving cell caused by uplink transmission by the mobile radio over one or more of the multiple radio frequency carriers over which the mobile radio is currently simultaneously transmitting. If the estimated inter-cell interference in the non-serving cell exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the inter-cell interference in the non-serving cell is reduced or limited by managing radio resources so that the estimated inter-cell interference in the non-serving cell is or becomes less than the predetermined threshold.
