    • Vulcanizable elastomeric roof sheet materials for roofing having improved burn resistivity and prepared from a polymeric composition of matter comprise at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyolefins prepared from monomers containing at least two carbon atoms and mixtures thereof, the polymer having a crystallinity of up to about 2 percent by weight; about 20 to 125 parts by weight of one or more non-black mineral fillers per 100 parts of the polymer, about 50 to 110 parts by weight of one or more black-type fillers per 100 parts of the polymer; and from about 50 to 70 parts by weight of a processing material or softener per 100 parts of the polymer. A method of covering a roof comprises the steps of applying sheets of vulcanizable elastomeric roof sheet material prepared from a vulcanizable polymeric composition of matter, to the roof being covered; overlapping adjacent edges of the roof sheet material; and adhesively seaming the overlapped layers of the roof sheet material together to form a continuous elastomeric roofing membrane. The composition of matter is devoid of any flame retardant rubber chemical additives, heavy metals and halogen-containing polymers and possess improved burn resistivity.

A method for covering a roof comprises the steps of applying layers of self-adhering sheet material prepared from an uncured heat seamable polymeric composition of matter comprising blends of polyolefins, semi-crystalline polyolefins and crystallinity enhancing polymers to the roof being covered; overlapping adjacent edges of the layers; heating the overlapped areas to about the softening point of the sheet material and seaming the overlapped areas under sufficient pressure to provide an acceptable seam strength. For practice of the method, the composition of matter is self-adhering, without the use of an adhesive.

    • An economizer for an air handler, air conditioner or similar unit. The economizer has a first position and a second position. In the first position, the economizer is retracted and presents a relatively flat end surface of the air handler, and in a second position the economizer projects from the air handler and provides for the intake of ambient air into the air handler. The invention provides for the shipment of the economizer intact with the air handler so that installation of the unit is conveniently achieved.

    • An outdoor enclosure for air handling equipment is adaptable to accept add-on air handling equipment by virtue of a two-position cover panel. The cover panel has a generally rectangular shape and is attached to a side panel of the enclosure. The cover panel is selectively mountable in either a vertical position to cover a fresh air opening through the side panel or in an open position to uncover the opening. The cover is opened by pivoting it about its upper horizontal edge which is located just above the opening and swinging its lower edge outwardly away from the side panel. An add-on mist elimination filter is installed in a generally horizontal position betweeen the cover panel's lower edge and the lower edge of the side panel's opening. In the open position, the cover panel serves as a rain sheltering hood over the filter while the opening allows fresh outside air to be drawn into the suction side of a fan located inside the enclosure. The two-position cover panel facilitates the conversion of the enclosure while minimizing the need for special, single-purpose panels.
