    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RC underground construction which prevents shear fracture and bending failure of a center pillar at the time of an earthquake, and ensures a function of bearing earth pressure applied thereto at the time of huge deformation thereof, to thereby improve the earthquake resisting performance of the entire body of the RC underground construction, and to provide a structure of an RC pillar.
      SOLUTION: According to the RC underground construction, a pillar head A and a pillar pedestal B of the center pillar 1 are connected to a ceiling slab 3 and a foundation slab 2, respectively, by means of a plurality of unbonded cores 4. The center pillar 1 is formed of precast concrete, while the pillar head A and the pillar pedestal B are formed of high-performance concrete that is a material withstanding high bearing stress. Further an abutting portion of the pillar head A of the center pillar 1 on the ceiling slab 3, and an abutting portion of the pillar pedestal B of the same on the foundation slab 2, each have a shape that facilitates rotation thereof.
