    • A method of controlling downlink transmissions to a subscriber station capable of communicating with a base station of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) network. The method comprises the steps of: receiving a first pilot signal from a first base station antenna; receiving a second pilot signal from a second base station antenna; and estimating the channel between the base station and subscriber station based on the received first and second pilot signals. The method also comprises determining a set of OFDM symbol processing parameters based on the step of estimating the channel and transmitting the OFDM symbol processing parameters to the base station. The base station uses the OFDM symbol processing parameters to control the relative gains and the relative delays of OFDM symbols transmitted from the first and second antennas.

    • The present invention relates to a method for data transmission in a communication system. The method including, determining, at the transmitter, whether to transmit data signal using a single codeword or two codewords, when it is determined that the single codeword transmission is used, coding, by the transmitter, a control signal by using a first signal format, with the control signal coded by the first signal format carrying information regarding the single codeword, when it is determined that the two codewords transmission is used, coding, by the transmitter, the control signal by using a second signal format, with the control signal coded by the second signal format carrying information regarding both of the two codewords, transmitting the data signal and the control signal according to the determined transmission format from the transmitter to the receiver.

    • A system and method for synchronous spectrum sharing for use in a wireless communication system based on orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) signaling is disclosed. The system includes a frame detector configured to detect a frame of a broadcast waveform and extract sub-carrier information from a subframe or Secondary User Map (SU MAP). SU MAP includes information on usable sub-carrier and pilot sub-carriers for secondary users. The system allows transmitting data from the secondary user node in unused sub-carriers thereby making efficient use of unused or idle spectrum. Accordingly, secondary users of wireless communication systems can dynamically form ad-hoc mesh network communications in fixed or mobile scenarios.

    • A device and method for device association, interference mitigation and channel selection for use in a visible light communication (VLC) network. The method includes transmitting on every one of a plurality of supported color channels of a first device to estimate an ambient interference on each supported color channel. The method also includes receiving a transmission on at least some of the supported color channels, where the number of receiving color channels is less than or equal to the number of supported color channels of the transmitter. The method further includes calculating a channel quality index for each of the receiving color channels. The method still further includes selecting at least one of the receiving color channels of the first device to be used as a communication channel. The method also includes reporting the at least one communication channel to a second device in the VLC network. In certain embodiments, the method includes establishing guard color channels for each of the supported color channels.
