    • An implementation of a technology, described herein, for enhancing the reading experience of electronically stored documents on electronic display devices. Unlike the conventional virtual paging paradigms, this technology intelligently examines the content of a fixed electronic document at (or near) a boundary of virtual pages. It determines whether that content includes lines of text. If it does, then it moves the virtual page boundary to white space between lines rather than splitting a line of text or displaying overlap. This action intelligently avoids splitting a line of text. Alternatively, if it cannot determine whether that content includes lines of text, then it produces an overlap, but it softly lowlights the overlap. This indicates that the reader need not read the content of the overlap because it either will be repeated or was repeated. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent. The scope of the present invention is pointed out in the appending claims.

    • A method and system are provided for detecting transparency simulation formulated by an application in a rendering device. The system includes a node structure construction component for saving each drawing function in a node with an associated node type and node state. The system further includes a node structure constructed from the saved nodes and traversal components for traversing the node structure. The traversal components include a type check mechanism for determining a saved type of each node in the structure and a state check mechanism for finding a saved state and detecting. The system detects the transparency simulation upon finding a predetermined node type and a predetermined node state.

    • A method for sharpening the corners of digital image data to overcome corner rounding when displayed or printed. The method comprises stepping a window across the image data and comparing that windowed data to a template. Upon determining a match, pixel data is either substituted into the image bitmap data at that location, or a signal is generated which will appropriately modify the writing of that image data. The data substitution or generated signal will achieve a localized clustering or “ear” of toner/ink, or in the alternative for inside corners the localized clustered absence of toner/ink. The result of this clustering is a sharpening of the corners so that they image as intended by the bitmap.
