    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a fuel pump for pressurizing fuel by driving a pump part by rotation of an armature. SOLUTION: A motor part 13 of the fuel pump 10 is constituted by rotatably arranging the armature 50 on the inner peripheral side of a permanent magnet 40. A rotor core 52 of the armature 50 is formed by laminating a magnetic steel plate. The rotor core 52 forms a plurality of magnetic pole cores 53 in the rotational direction, and a coil 60 is wound on the respective magnetic pole cores 53. A magnetic steel plate 56 having the plate thickness thicker than the magnetic steel plate 54 except for axial both ends, is laminated on axial both ends of the rotor core 52. The magnetic steel plate 56 has a collar part 56 formed by bending the outer peripheral side toward the commutator 70 side and the pump case 22 side by press working with every magnetic pole core 53. The coil 60 is wound between an outer peripheral side surface 77 and the collar part 57 of a commutator 70. A bearing part 23 of a pump case 22 supporting a bearing 24, overlaps in the radial direction with a recessed part 100 of the armature 50, and enters the inside of the armature 50 in the axial direction. Each core 32 generates a magnetic field on a face opposite to the rotor 50 by carrying a current in the coil 42. The coil 42 has a concentrated winding at each core 32 on an outer circumference of an insulator 40, and electrically connected to a coil terminal 44 on the end support cover 28 side. The magnetic field generated in the coil 42 is controlled by a controller for switching a drive current supplied to the coil 42.

Such a constitution enables the connection between the armature coils 7 by only making the male terminal 10 fitted into the female terminal. Consequently, provision of the commutators different in the internal connection allows easy change of the connection between the armature coils 7 only by replacing the commutator.

SOLUTION: Six coils 7 are connected to each segment 8a in which one end thereof constitutes a rectifier 8, and the other end of each coil is connected to neutral positions n1 and n2. In two pairs of brushes 4, a plus-side brush 4 of one pair is short-circuited with a minus-side brush 4 of the other pair. This makes it possible for a primary coil group and a secondary coil group to be energized in series with each other through the two pairs of brushes 4. With this constitution, the voltage at one phase of coils 7 is decreased by a half of that in a conventional type, which also reduces the voltage when rectified in a half. This would mean that even if the power voltage doubles, the voltage when rectified would not increase more than that in a conventional type. As a result, arc discharge generated between the brushes 4 and the rectifiers 8 when rectified can be restrained, so that wear to the brushes 4 and the rectifiers 8 can be reduced. It is thus possible to extend the service life of the motor.
