    • PURPOSE:To obtain a large light quantity and an even light-emitting quantity along the whole length of a discharging tube by providing plural electrodes on which a high frequency electromagnetic field is impressed in a prescribed direction and at prescribed intervals and setting the intervals of the electrodes in the prescribed direction shorter than the lengths of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Plural coil like electrodes 2 on which a high frequency impressing means 3 impresses the high frequency electromagnetic field are arranged along the lengthwise direction of the discharging tube 1. The interedge parts of respective coil like electrodes 2 are arranged with distances d1, d2 and d3. The distances of the coil like electrodes 2 d1-d3 are respectively set shorter than a length 'l' along the direction of the arrangement of the coil like electrodes 2 (the lengthwise direction of the discharging tube). Thus, the deterioration of the light-emitting light quantity of interelectrode is controlled and the even light emitting light quantity can be obtained for the whole length of the discharging tube. Thus, the large light quantity and the even light-emitting light quantity can be obtained for the whole length of the discharging tube.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the nonuniformity of exposure due to a variable power ratio from being generated by correcting the distribution of an emitted light quantity, by providing a storage means which stores a correction value to uniformize illuminance distribution on an image forming plane, and controlling a supplying power quantity to plural electrodes based on a stored content. CONSTITUTION:In a case where luminance due to the reflection of the emitted light of a discharge tube 1 on an original plane is uniform, illuminance in the neighborhood of a screen, especially the illuminance of an end part in a longitudinal direction is lowered. Therefore, either an input power value to respective coil shaped electrode 2 of the discharge tube or its duty factor, or the combination of both values is controlled by a control means 5 according to an inputted correction value stored in a memory 10, and thereby, the lowering of the illuminance of both end parts in the longitudinal direction is prevented from occurring. Also, the magnification of an original image is changed, and a several kinds of stored contents is stored in the memory so that the inputted correction value fitted to the magnification of an optical system can be called out when the angle of the image is changed, then, the illuminance distribution is corrected to almost uniform one corresponding to the change of the magnification.

    • PURPOSE:To stably maintain the preset quantity of light by detecting the high- frequency electromagnetic field generated by an electrode with a detecting means and controlling the strength of the high-frequency electromagnetic field based on this detected result. CONSTITUTION:When the high-frequency power is fed to an electrode 2 by a high-frequency oscillating unit 3, the high-frequency electromagnetic field is emitted to the outside from the electrode 2, and a discharge tube 1 is illuminated. The luminous quantity of this discharge tube 1 is nearly proportional to the strength of the high-frequency electromagnetic field from the electrode 2. Therefore, the luminous quantity of the discharge tube 1 can be known by detecting the electromagnetic field near the electrode 2 without directly detecting the light. A coil 4 is used as a detecting means to detect this electromagnetic field. Since the quantity of the visible light generated by the discharge tube 1 is determined by the detection of the electromagnetic field strength, even if an output signal line 4a near the electrode 2 is affected by the electromagnetic field, the signal noise caused by it is extremely small as compared with the detected signal, and the control of the luminous quantity is hardly affected. Accordingly, the preset quantity of light can be stably maintained.

At the inner surface of the package 1, a phosphor 13 is spread as a visual spectrum device to absorb the luminous spectrum and radiate a visual light, and an even light is radiated from the whole luminous surface 3.
