    • The invention relates to a method for producing n-butyraldehyde from 1,3-butadiene comprising the following steps: a) provision of a mixture A containing a 2-butenylamine of general formula (II) and a 3-butenylamine of general formula (III); b) addition of an amine (IV) and an alkali metal to mixture A and in situ production of an alkali metal amide of general formula (V), or addition of an alkali metal amide (Va) to mixture A and isomerisation of 2-butenylamine (II) and 3-butenylamine (III) to 1-butenylamine of general formula (I), whereby the alkali metal amide (V) or (Va) acts as an isomerisation catalyst and a mixture B containing 1-butenylamine (I), 2-butenylamine (II) and 3-butenylamine (III) is obtained; c) addition of butadiene and hydroamination of the butadiene with the amine (IV) to form 2-butenylamine (II) and 3-butenylamine (III), whereby the alkali metal amide (V) or (Va) acts as a hydroamination catalyst and a mixture C containing 1-butenylamine (I), 2-butenylamine (II) and 3-butenylamine (III) is obtained; d) addition of water to mixture C, which permits butyraldehyde and the amine (IV) to be released from the 1-butenylamine and a hydrolysate D containing 2-butenylamine (II), 3-butenylamine (III), amine (IV) and butyraldehyde to be obtained; e) extraction of the butyraldehyde, amine (IV), 2-butenylamine (II) and 3-butenylamine (III) from the hydrolysate D; f) recycling of 2-butenylamine (II), 3-butenylamine (III) and amine (IV) to step a).
