    • PURPOSE: An adhesive composition that is made by adding a softening agent and a specific terpolymer to a graft polymer prepared by grafting a reactive monomer containing glycidyl groups and an alkyl acrylate onto a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, thus effecting good adhesion between copper tapes and polyvinyl chloride.
      CONSTITUTION: First, a glycidyl ester of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and alkyl acrylate, e.g., glycidyl methacrylate and n-butyl acrylate are grafted onto a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate. The resultant graft copolymer is combined with a softening agent and a terpolymer of vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-maleic anhydride. The resultant resin composition is laid between surfaces of steel or copper to produce laminatings, or a laminated tape made by laminating the composition on one or both surface of a copper tape is used as an insulation layer around a cable core and a polyvinyl chloride sheath is applied thereon to give a laminate sheath type power cable.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a flame-retardant styrene elastomer compsn. which has excellent flame retardance, does not suffer the exudation of flame retarder and has excellent resistance of deterioration by heat, by blending a fluoroelastomer with a specified block copolymer.
      CONSTITUTION: A fluoroelastomer is blended with an A-B-A block copolymer (wherein A is polystyrene, B is a polymer obtd. by hydrogenating the unsaturated bonds of polybutadiene or polyisoprene) in such a proportion that the content of the fluoroelastomer accounts for 20wt% or more of the entire quantity of the compsn., thus obtaining the desired flame-retardant styrene elastomer compsn. Examples of the fluoroelastomers are tetrafluoroethylene/propylene copolymer, vinylidene fluoride/hexafluoropropylene copolymer, tetrafluoroethylene/vinylidene fluoride/propylene copolymer, etc.

The molar ratio of tetrafluoroethylene/ propylene in the terpolymer is 90/10W55/45, preferably 60/40W50/50, and the content of glycidyl vinyl ether is 0.1W10mol%, preferably 1W5mol%. The amount of the components of the crosslinking agent is 0.1W10pts.wt. each per 100pts.wt. of the terpolymer.
