摘要： An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display, which can surely perform an instillation process used when liquid crystal is sealed between substrates in a cell process, and a fabrication method thereof. A liquid crystal display comprises a sealing material made of a photo-curing type material which seals liquid crystal sandwiched between substrates, and a shading film having a shading area which overlays a red-colored layer transmitting red light, a green-colored layer transmitting green light and a blue-colored layer transmitting blue light, wherein only the blue-colored layer is formed in an area of the shading film contacting with the sealing material and the photo-curing type material of the sealing material is structured to have a light reactive area for a wavelength of blue color band.

摘要： The liquid crystal display panel which has improved viewing angle characteristics, is free from deterioration of a liquid crystal, enables the alignment division to be easily and ensurely carried out and has a simple structure. The liquid crystal display panel is constructed so that substrates sandwiching a liquid crystal therebetween each have an alignment film at their inner walls, at least one of the alignment films comprises a layer of a particular polyimide film material capable of inducing a change in surface energy upon the action of light or heat energy, the alignment film comprises an assembly of two adjacent minute domains and has been continuously rubbed in one direction along the minute domains and the two minute domains are different from each other in pretilt angle (defined as an angle at which liquid crystalline molecules rise from the surface of the substrate).

摘要： An element division liquid crystal display device with a liquid crystal inserted between first and second plates having alignment films, respectively. The alignment film of at least the first plate includes a single layer of alignment material having a plurality of first and second adjacent domains A and B and is continuously rubbed in one direction through first and second minute domains A and B. A further treatment, different from a rubbing treatment, is effected to the single alignment layer so that a pretilt angle of the liquid crystal contacting the alignment layer at one of the first and second domains is different from the pretilt angle of the liquid crystal contacting the alignment layer at the other domain. The further treatment includes one of the steps of irradiating with UV light, changing the chemical components of the material of the alignment layer, heating or changing the precuring process.

An alignment film is formed on one of the first and second substrates on the side facing the other substrate. A pre-tilt angle is imparted so that the ends of each liquid crystal molecule in the central region of the liquid crystal layer near the drive wiring line tilt away from the drive wiring line when a voltage is applied across each pixel electrode and the common electrode.

摘要： An image display area is defined in a main surface of a first substrate, and a terminal area is defined outside the display area. A plurality of first bus lines are arranged on the display area of the main surface of the first substrate. A first insulating layer covers the first bus lines on the main surface of the first substrate. The first bus lines correspond to external terminals on the terminal area of the first substrate, respectively. The external terminals are connected electrically with the corresponding first bus lines, respectively, through first contact holes that pass through the first insulating layer to the upper surface of the first bus lines. The external terminals are covered with a protective insulating layer in such a manner that their ends near the border of the first substrate remain uncovered.
