摘要： A method and apparatus for protecting regions of an electronic document are provided. According to the method, the entire electronic document is protected. The selection of a region within the electronic document is received along with identity of one or more users authorized to freely edit the selected region. The identified users are authorized to freely edit only the selected region of the electronic document. A request is then received to edit a region of the electronic document from a current user. In response to the request, a determination is made as to whether the current user is authorized to edit the region. If the user is not authorized to edit the region, the request is denied.

摘要： Context based menus are employed for content management through touch or gesture actions, keyboard entries, mouse or pen actions, and similar input. Context based menus may be deployed using a variety of shapes, forms, and content. Different actions and combinations of actions enable users to activate submenus, execute commands, or collapse context based menus. By enabling viewing of menus and execution of commands through context based menus positioned in relation to displayed content user experience is enhanced when interacting with user interfaces with limited display area.

The framework includes a mechanism for users to generate and share help information and a mechanism for users to access help information created by other users. To generate help information, tools may be incorporated into an application to enable users to capture information about the application as they are performing functions. Those tools capture as a video clip a representation of screen displays created by the application as the user interacts with the application to perform a function about which help information is to be generated. Along with the scenes captured in the video clip, application context information and explanatory material, such as an audio narration, can be captured. The mechanism to access help information includes a server to which video clips can be posted and catalogued, allowing identification of clips in response to user input describing a required help topic.

摘要： A method, system, and computer-readable medium are provided for creating, inserting, and reusing document parts in an electronic document. According to a system, a word processing application program receives a selection of a document part category. In response to the selection of the document part category, a gallery of document parts is displayed in a user interface. A selection of a document part from the gallery is received and inserted in the electronic document without the need for additional formatting. The gallery of document parts defines a page layout for the electronic document. Document parts may be created within the user interface by modifying pre-built document parts.

摘要： A method and system for converting and plugging user interface terms is disclosed. A program module may allow the user to change the user interface language and the help feature language such that the user interface language may be different than the help feature language. Because the help feature often refers to user interface terms, a user may become confused if the help feature refers to user interface terms in the help language rather than in the user interface language. A mechanism for dynamically changing user interface terms in the help feature to the user interface language chosen by the user as opposed to the help feature language is disclosed. In one embodiment, the tagging of the HTML help feature files is altered with a special set of HTML tags so that these user interface terms may be identified and converted to the user interface language. Once a particular user interface term is identified in the HTML help feature file of the help feature language, the corresponding user interface term may be retrieved from the help feature file of the user interface language by identifying the same tag. The corresponding user interface term of the help feature file of the user interface language may then be plugged into the help feature file of the help feature language and displayed to the user.
