摘要： An arterial catheter system for removing plaque from the aorta and other arteries is disclosed. The system typically includes an elongate catheter member, a filtration apparatus disposed within the distal region, and an atherectomy assembly which includes a mechanism for trapping and holding mobile or fixed plaque and an excising mechanism for removing the plaque. In use, the catheter is positioned so that the atherectomy assembly lies within a region of interest, the filtration apparatus is deployed downstream of the region of interest, the plaque is trapped and held by a snare, vacuum, or other trapping means, and then the excising mechanism is activated to remove the plaque. Methods are also disclosed for removing plaque from the aorta and other arteries.

摘要： A bait-retaining fishhook includes a metal fishhook having an elongated, curved body with a line-retaining eye at one end and a point at the other end and a bait retaining member attached thereto. The bait retainer is an elongated piece of flexible thermoplastic material such as monofilament fishing line attached at one end to the body of the hook adjacent the point, the other end of the line extending away from said body portion. When bait is placed on the fishhook, and particularly when force is applied to pull the bait from the hook, the bait retaining member is separated from the body portion and inhibits removal of the bait from the hook. The assembly is made by heating the hook above the softening point of the line and touching an end of the line to the heated hook, thereby melting the end of the line onto the hook body, forming a secure connection.

The system also has a cannula cover and a needle handle that holds a needle for insertion into the patient. The cannula cover and needle handle are detachably attached to the drug infusion device, and each is attachable to the other. The device further comprises a septum and a septum pincher to seal the device. The device also comprises a pumping mechanism, part of which are a last-dose lock-out mechanism and an occlusion detection mechanism, both of which operate on the same actuator.
