    • A control system for the ignition system of an internal combustion engine for providing faster idle speed when the engine is at a low temperature by advancing the spark timing. A first temperature sensor which senses actual temperature is mounted in the engine ignition control circuit which is, in turn, mounted in proximity to the engine so as to approximate its temperature. A on/off temperature switch is mounted directly in the engine so as to sense when engine temperature is above a predetermined value. The system is operative to provide ignition control by the actual engine temperature unless the second on/off switch is turned on to indicate that the engine temperature has not returned ambient temperature after a running period. If the engine temperature switch is on, normal ignition timing is employed.

    • Two embodiments of improved exhaust gas systems for outboard motors. In each system, the slow speed exhaust gases go through at least three expansions and contractions before discharge to the atmosphere. In one embodiment of the invention, the slow speed exhaust gases go through four expansions and contractions. In each embodiment of the invention, one of the expansion chambers has communication with another expansion chamber through a neck that is tuned whereby the neck and the one expansion chamber function as a Helmholtz resonator for tuning intermediate and high speed exhaust gas discharge.

    • A silver halide photographic material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer having been spectrally sensitized with adsorbable spectral sensitizing dye is disclosed, wherein a hydrophilic dispersion medium contains a substantially non-adsorbable luminescent dye which is easily removable by development processing the satisfies the following conditions (1) to (3):(1) The luminescent dye has an equilibrium adsorption of not more than 5.times.10.sup.-7 mol per m.sup.2 of silver bromide grain surface in a 5% by weight gelatin aqueous solution containing silver bromide grains whose outer surface is composed substantially of a [111] face under conditions of 40.degree. C. in temperature, 6.5.+-.0.05 in pH, and 10.sup.-4 mol/l in dye concentration in the solution phase;(2) The luminescent dye has an emission quantium yield of not less than 0.1 at room temperature in dry gelatin at a concentration of 10.sup.-4 mol/dm.sup.3 ; and(3) The luminescent dye has an emission band at least a part of which overlaps an optical absorption band of the absorbable spectral sensitizing dye on silver halide grains. Use of the non-adsorbable luminescent dye markedly improves spectral sensitivity of the silver halide photographic material without causing desensitization.
