摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to derive light response which is large and fast enough from a light-responding optical element with good reproducibility. SOLUTION: Control light is emitted by a light source 1 and signal light is emitted by a light source 2. The control light and signal light are converted by a condenser lens 7 to irradiate an optical element 8. Only the signal light is detected by an optical detector 22 through a photodetection lens 9 and a wavelength selective transmission filter 20. The transmissivity to the signal light increases and decreases reversibly by turning ON and OFF the control signal and intensity modulation on the signal light is actualized. The numerical aperture of the photodetection lens is made substantially less than that of the condenser lens 7 to derive the light response which is large and fast enough from the lightresponding optical element containing a phthalocyanine derivative.

The recording medium substrate 14 is placed in a vacuum chamber 10 and the thin film of the optical functional org. compd. is formed on the surface of the substrate 14 by spraying the film forming material liquid. At this time, the operating conditions of, such as latent heat of evaporation, solidification point temp., a physical constant of an evaporation rate, a nozzle heating temp., spraying rate, the distance between a nozzle 16 and the substrate 14, and a condition for heating mists, are controlled in order to put the sprayed mists or fine liquid droplets into the liquid medium-free state. As a result, the fluidization of the soln. and the direct contact of the medium liquid immersing the substrate with the substrate are prevented.

SOLUTION: Control light is emitted from a light source 1, and signal light is emitted from a light source 2. The control light and the signal light are converged by a condensing lens 7, then, the optical element 8 is irradiated with the light. Only the signal light is detected by a photodetector 22 through a photoreceiving lens 9 and a wavelength selecting filter 20. The transmissivity of the signal light reversibly increases/decreases in accordance with the on/off of the control light, then, the intensity of the signal light is modified. A solvent trap 4 is disposed in the back of the substrate holding bed 3 so as to trap the vaporized solvent, and a turbopump 5 and a vacuum pump 7 are arranged as an evacuating system under the vacuum chamber 8. By revolving the substrate 2 while it rotates, the film thickness of the org. compd. thin film deposited on the substrate 2 is made uniform.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a light control method which draws the light response of a sufficient size and velocity out of a light responsive optical element with the lowest possible light power and a light controller. CONSTITUTION: The control light is emitted from a light source l and the signal light from a light source 2. The interaction effect of the excitation species in the light responsive compsn, the control light and the photon of the signal light is greatly improved by converging the control light and the signal light and propagating the light on the same optical path. The drawing of the light response of the sufficient magnitude and velocity out of the light responsive optical element with the light power sufficiently lower than heretofore is made possible.

The transmissivity to the signal light increases or decreases reversibly in response to the ON/OFF state of the control light to actualize intensity modulation imposed on the signal light. The minimum converged beam diameter of the control light in the optical element 8 is made larger than the minimum converged beam diameter of the signal light and the position shift between two minimum converged beam diameters is allowed to increase the actualization.
