    • An LCD including an in-cell retarder and a manufacturing method thereof provided to prevent press spots of a panel and reduce an exposure process time without a mask patterning process for forming the in-cell retarder and the necessity for mask alignment by applying entire surface exposure. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) manufacturing method comprises the following steps of: preparing first and second substrates(200) having plural pixel areas which are disposed to face each other and spaced from each other at a predetermined interval; forming a color filter layer(260) in correspondence with a boundary part by area corresponding to the pixel area-wherein the color filter layer is disposed in the boundary part between the pixel areas of the first substrate within an inner surface of the first substrate; forming a column spacer(280) in correspondence with a boundary part by color at an upper part of the color filter layer; applying hardening LC solution to the whole upper part of the substrate where the column spacer is formed; concentrating the hardening LC solution in gaps between the column spacers according as the hardening LC solution flows from the top of the column spacer to left/right lower parts of the column spacer; disposing an exposure in an upper part spaced from the first substrate, and forming an in-cell retarder(250) through an exposure step of irradiating light to the hardening LC solution through the exposure in order to harden the hardening LC solution; interposing an LC layer between the first and second substrates; forming a seal pattern in the outer wall of the first and second substrates; and attaching the first and second substrates by using the seal pattern.

    • An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve the process efficiency and reduce process cost by forming a phase difference compensating layer within a substrate, and simplify processes, reduce a process time, and improve alignment accuracy by using a black matrix formed on a color filter substrate as the exposure mask of the phase difference compensating layer without a separate mask. An LCD device comprises first and second substrates(330), a black matrix(332), a color filter layer(334), a phase difference compensating layer(338), a column spacer, a seal pattern, and a liquid crystal layer. The first and second substrates are disposed oppositely to each other and have plural pixel areas(P) spaced from each other at regular intervals. The black matrix is positioned in a border portion between the outline of the first substrate and the pixel areas in the first substrate and has an area corresponding to the pixel areas as an open portion. The color filter layer is formed in the pixel areas on the black matrix as the border portion between colors. The phase difference compensating layer is formed in a position corresponding to the open portion in the upper part of the color filter layer and is composed of a curable liquid crystal substance. The column spacer has height corresponding to a cell gap between the first and second substrates in a position of the black matrix. The seal pattern is formed in the outline of between the first and second substrates. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second substrates.

    • A liquid crystal display device and a fabricating method thereof are provided to simply form a compensation film with twisted cholesteric liquid crystal by coating with a high phase difference value to improve viewing angles by using the compensation film as a -C plate compensation film. A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel(400) formed of upper and lower substrates(200,100) facing each other and a liquid crystal layer(300) implanted between the upper and lower substrates, first and second polarization plates(250,150) respectively attached to upper and lower surfaces of the upper and lower substrates, and a compensation film(240) formed at least one surface of the upper substrate. The compensation film is formed of twisted cholesteric liquid crystal such as Nematic liquid crystal and chiral dopants contained by 6.5-15wt% with respect to the Nematic liquid crystal.

    • An alignment method is provided to allow omission of separate alignment layer formation when an in-cell photo compensation film is formed and thus reduce a manufacturing cost by performing alignment by forming scratches on a surface of a substrate using a rubbing cloth. Scratches are formed on a surface of a substrate(100) to provide predetermined orientation. A surface of the substrate with the rubbed surface is coated with a liquid crystal material having anisotropy to form an optical functional layer. The optical functional layer is hardened to form a light compensation film(110) having light compensation characteristics.
