    • An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve adhesive force between a seal pattern and an overcoat layer on a color filter substrate, thereby preventing seal destruction or like even when forming the seal pattern on the overcoat layer. On a first substrate(150), a pixel electrode(180) and a common electrode(183) are formed. A second substrate(110) faces the first substrate in correspondence with the first substrate. A black matrix(115) is formed on the second substrate. A color filter layer(120) is formed on the second substrate as being partially overlapped with the black matrix. An overcoat layer(125) is formed in the front of an upper part of the color filter layer. In the overcoat layer, a barrier rib(130) is formed in a dam shape as having a first thickness(t1) and a first width(w1) along an edge. In the overcoat layer, the rest areas have a second thickness(t2) thinner than the first thickness. A seal pattern(193) is formed on an upper part of the barrier rib as being contacted with the first substrate. An LC layer(190) is interposed between the first and second substrates within the barrier rib.

    • PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to selectively reflect external light by coating special materials on a second polarization plate, thereby displaying a single color on a display area even during off of a backlight unit. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal panel comprises an array substrate(110), a color filter substrate(150), and a liquid crystal layer(180). A first polarization plate(185) is attached to the array substrate. A backlight unit(189) is formed on the first polarization plate. A second polarization plate(187) is attached to an external side of the color filter substrate. A first inorganic film(190a) and a second inorganic film(190b) are alternatively laminated on the second polarization plate to form a multi-layered thin film(190). The multi-layered thin film displays light of single color by selectively reflecting external light even though the backlight unit is turned off.
